How much breakage or shedded hair is too much?

NubianRose how much breakage/shedding are you getting?

Do you comb hair when wet or dry?

If wet, do you comb it with shampoo or conditioner in it?

What kind of comb do you use to comb the hair?

How gentle/or heavy handed are you when you comb your hair?

Some answers to these questions can answer if the breakage could be "self inflicted", by using the wrong size teethed comb, or combing excessively when it's dry etc or if you have a breakage problem from your hair health.

BTW is your hair relaxed/natural?

Hey LD, its not even a matter of me combing right now..after i wash out my shampoo and apply my conditioner i find that there are strands of hair in my hand WHILE im applying it, is that normal?

Yep it's normal, as long as it's really nothing that makes you go /images/graemlins/shocked.gif when you look at your hand or the comb. I swear I'm so obsessed that if I see hair strands coming out then I'm still not doing something right in my regimen. Perfectionist I know!! But even with loads of moisture some hairs do break and others shed. I think it's about 50-100 hairs a day shed. I lose less than that in one hair wash and comb out and I still freak out.

If it's bothering you that much or you believe that it's something a little more serious than shedding, first port of call would be to try the protein conditioner to curb it for a while.

Thanks for reaffirming what i thought. I had to remind myself it was NORMAL for some hair to shed/break etc..i have been using my protein conditioners so i don't think its anything like that. Thanks again.
