USE PLASTIC CAPS before you throw them away?

I know this is a crazy question but I've been throwing them away after each use. I DC twice a week and it's gettng expensive.

I apologize if there's already a thread on this however I did an Advanced Search and it turned up nothing. If there's an existing thread, please link it...

I get the big bag of 50, I think it is, from Sally's for like $3 and I'll reuse one until it practically falls apart. I use the plastic cap with every conditioner...even conditioner washes.I've been working on my current bag for at least six months and there's not even half a bag gone, I don't think.

It depends.

I throw away my henna w/honey caps, and my caramel caps, and my coconut/lime caps - I live in a bit of a wild area, and I've learned (the hard way) that no matter how clean I think they are, the ants know better. :lachen:

My DC caps, I keep for - a while. I rinse them out in the shower, and let them drip dry - I'd say I re-use them 5-10 times, at least - until I put a hole in them, or the band pops.

I also buy the 'salon size' packages at Sallys - 30 showercaps will last me at least 4-6 months....
 
If I do use a plastic cap, I only use it once. The products that I use aren't runny, so I really don't have a need for them. I usually buy a pack of 20 for 99 cents. They last forever.
 
Wow, okay...so...

Do you rinse/wipe the bag out each time? What about when you do protein (or other) treatments?
 
i usually throw them away after one use, i don't bother with the rinsing out task. Also i read a tip from Macherie that you can save $ by using a shopping bag or saran wrap. This is a good question.

I keep a roll of plastic wrap in my bathroom and I've used a plastic bag when in a pinch (like out of town and not trying to buy anymore or spend anymore money).

I don't bother with rinsing mine out.

I did throw them out when I was using henna...

Rinse the bag out each time. If it's a protein treatment I rinse the bag out. If I've put a rinse or henna in my hair, I throw it away and get another one.

The times that I rinsed the bag out, I could still see residue which gave me the creeps...:lachen:so I ended up throwing them out. I need to get to Sally's for the econo size!
 
You might consider checking the prices at Sally's or using the produce bags from the grocery store - that's expensive.
 
I got 30 from Sally's for like $1.99 (it was a sale price).

I usually keep 2 in rotation and hanging in the shower. I'll rinse them and let them hang in the shower and I'll also flip them inside out and use the other side! :lachen: I probably don't change them but every four months or so- mainly cause I forget.

I do throw the caps away after henna. For hard protein I do Aphogee so I don't baggy- for lighter proteins I just keep using the same cap.
 
I buy them in bulk from the BSS, like 40 to a pack. I throw them away after each use. BUT, if you rinsed it out and turned it inside out to let it dry, there's nothing wrong with that. It's not like it's dirty, especially since you used it on your own clean hair:yep:
 
Thanks everyone. Y'all gave me some good suggestions:yep:. I'll def start using the other side! DUH...:spinning: I'll also try to *borrow* some produce bags :sekret:since they're thinner than regular market bags.

I recently bought a tri-colored pack of 30. The colors are black, red and blue. I'll use the black when I color, the red for protein treatments and the blue for DCing. After those are gone, I'm off to Sally's.

Wow!! I rinse mine and dry and use them until the rubber pops. I think I may have seen them rinse them at the salon. I better pay closer attention. I use the gold and silver body heat caps and I refuse to use those only once, they are $1.49 each at Sally's.
 
I use mine a handful of times before I replace. I wish I had known about the cheap ones at Sally's, I just came from there!:wallbash:

I use mine untill it falls apart. Shoot, if its still good, why throw it away? I hang it on the towel rack, by the elastic part, so it doesn't get moldy. It saves a lot of money $$$$
 
Shooooooot I wear them jokers til I can't no more. I figure I just washed my head, I'm the only one using them, and it's just conditioner so why not?
