How many of you have read the WHOLE bible?

I am working on that this year. I have read alot of it over the years but I am taking the time to ingest every word this year.

I am using www.YouVersion.com One Year Bible Plan. Its really good. You do a little old testament, little new testament, a psalm, and a proverb everyday. I have read ahead of course (continue reading through old testament) because it does go a little slow for my personal taste.

According to YouVersion, I am 16% through the bible. I encourage all those that want to read through the whole bible to use this website.

I have read the entrie bible more than once. I always find/see something that I didn't find/see the first time.

I working on reading it through cover to cover now. I have read Old Testament Genesis through 2 Samuel. Skipped to Ecclesiastias (sp?), Revelations.

I plan to do that this summer, I will purchase a new bible and read it. Can't wait!

I am 23% through, I started in December 2010.

I am also on youversion, I download it as an app on my BB

Front to back, 3x in my life. It's new each and every time. If I only read the missal at church, it's read from front to back within that same liturgical year, much like study bibles you can get that will give you Psalms, the Prophets, New Testament, the Writings. I think I don't have the discipline alone to just be dedicated to my own private set-up study and I don't attend mass daily. I might just buy a missal and that way, read it again for this year.

Yes, I read the entire Bible a few times in picking up one book at a time.
But it’s my third time doing this systematically. And each time, it’s new.
I started with a general one year plan.
Last year, I opted for a chronological plan, and I liked it. This year, I am reading with the same chronological plan.

Whatever the plan, I encourage every one to do this and continue to do it.

Hmm, I don't know so I guess that means no?! I have never intentionally set out to read the entire bible purely for the sake of reading it since childhood:bookworm:. I have read and studied a lot of the bible for various reasons over the past years. I think before it is all said and done I likely will have read the entire bible:yep:.

OT: @MA2010,
Congrats on baby #2. It seems like just yesterday you were getting married:cry2::heart2:, now you are about to be mommy again!:reddancer:

Nope. But I'm trying. I keep repeating books so that's probably why but I started from the beginning of the NT in January and now I'm in Luke. So I'll be awhile.

Thanks for this plan Crown. I think I'm going to follow it. Especially with the OT.

I have twice, from Genesis to Revelation, and each time there's something new I picked up one. I'm currently in my third time of reading the bible in its entirety, and have just finished the book of Joshua.

I have read it through twice and its so powerful and life changing. There is nothing so personal than reading the Word for yourself. I truly feel as though God is speaking directly toward me. I usually read a chapter or two (or three) at night before bed. My prayer is to read throughout the day.
A few months ago, I began reading the New Testament only, I'm on the last chapters of Revelation now, and all I can say is that.....these current events are so close to what was foretold.

Amen sisters! The overwhelming consensus is this, everytime we read we get something new! I love that. It brings to mind this passage of scripture from Heb 4:12-
12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Thank God for his word which has stood and been tested and proven over and over despite human circumstances over time!!

I have and currently working on it again. I used a chronological reading plan that was only supposed to take a year but it took me three. It remains one of my greatest accomplishments. I felt convicted when I would say I am lived my life by that book and hadn't even read it :perplexed .

I have and have started again. Like it's been said. Always find something new, a new revelation, something timely. God's Word is awesome like that. Luv's it!!

I have read it several times. I read straight through each time. I was able to see Gods plan as a total picture because of that. When it was given to me in peices as I was growing up it seemed difficult and vast and over whelming.

It has been the best thing I have ever done.

We should read the Bible and know what it contains from Genesis to Revelation. Yet, if we simply read the Bible without any deeper study than mere reading, we will never understand the deeper messages that God has hidden in it for us. Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field” Matthew 13: 44. God intends for us to dig deep, to search for treasure, to be diligent students. We must study “line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little” Isaiah 28: 10.
So in saying I have read the bible through to be honest I can't remember if I read every single word in the bible because frankly I got bored with all the names. However, now I have a purpose and it makes it easier to read it everyday and to study out specific things. which is my goal this year. Set aside 60 minutes of pure bible reading and gradually increase the time with just the word alone, I usually have a bunch of books but now I need just my concordance and the word and pen and paper for stuff I am not sure about.
