How Many Haven't Used Henna?

You're not the only one who haven't used henna....I haven't tried it either nor do I have the desire to. :ohwell:

I haven't used it in years. I used to dye my hair with it when I was in highschool. I wasn't allowed to use chemical dyes and I wanted to get rid of the ruddy reddish brown color that came with the summer sun.

I don't have a desire to mess with it anymore.

I'm seriously thinking of henna-ing and indigo-ing my hair. I want to either touch up my roots w/ the same brown color I have or indigo it all to jet black....still considering... plus...henna's expensive!

I haven't used Henna either but some think that I have it in my hair now but it's just regular color.
Really? I thought you were a henna girl, too, because of the color. That color is just gorgeous.:)

I was really scared to use it at first, I though it would take my hair out! But it's actually quite easy. Here's the basics:

Before you do anything else, do a strand test --use hair from your comb or brush, and just mix it into a little bit of the henna for a couple of hours. Then rinse it off. Pull on it to see how strong it is, this is also a good way to see what color your hair will turn out to be, compare it to other hair from your comb. Of course if your hair dissolves when it hits the henna...don't use it!

When it comes to mixing, all you need is some water, you can also thrown conditioner or oil in it if you want. Mix it up until it's like gravy, throw it on, cover with a plastic cap, and go about your business. You can leave it on as long as you want, 45 minutes, even all night.

Then rinse, apply a deep conditioner, rinse again, and voila! That's henna.
Hmm...that doesnt sound too complicated. But I thought you had to let it sit overnight in a garage or something like that. I remember reading that somewhere.

The longer you let henna sit, the more color it releases. But you can slap it on right after you mix it up, you'll still get good color. I just mix mine ahead of time so it's ready for whenever I want it.

I researched it, especially cassia because I just wanted shine, but I haven't tried. I want color and shine, but I also like control over my color and I don't think I could get that with henna, so I'll probably pass over it and just stick with my rinses.

I really want to but I used Clariol Natural Instincts and and it says Do Not Use With Henna and now I am scared to try it. I have put too much work into this head to mess it up now. lol

Not trying to persuade you one way or the other, but NI was my brand for years and years and years. I stopped in March 06 and henna'd in May 06. I would never even consider going back. :nono:

But I can't even lie, until you get it down, henna is a lot of work, time consuming, and very messy.

I used it once when I was a teenager and it turned out well. I want to try it again after learning that it thickens and strengthens hair, but it's a matter of going out to buy it and finding the time to mix and apply.

I ordered some cassia since I like my natural color, and when it arrives in the next few weeks I'll be trying for the first time.

Naw. I haven't used it. Too scared of all of the work, following the process, and not being certain about the results.

This is exactly how I feel. If I'm not confident in how I'll apply a certain product, I stay away. The results I've seen are pretty good and I've heard nothing but good things about henna but I still have no plans to follow through w/a henna treatment.

I used it in highschool, but never really noticed any difference in my hair. Probably won't use it again.

I only used it once about a month or so ago. Its not hard at all. Its hard to mess up as long as you have 100% BAQ henna, you cant go wrong. All you really need is water, the other stuff is just extra.

The only reason I haven't done it since this is cuz i'm too cheap to order some more (even though its not expensive)! lol I really want to though

I must concur. It is actually quite simple.

Just add water to form a yogurt like paste that is mixed well.

If you want to, add a little olive oil to the paste then apply the paste to the hair.

Let it sit for as long as you want then rinse very well. That's it!!

Do mind all of the personal homemade mixes on the posts. Those added ingredients are for certain effects or extra moisture etc.

Tsipy

I havent used Henna yet, I have some laying around but Im too lazy to go through the actual process with the mixing/waiting/mess etc.

I haven't used Henna yet because my hair is already color treated with permanent color and I'm growing the color out. I'd definitely use it in the future though, I love the jet black and reddish colors that Henna and Indigo can create.

I don't...the last time I had a henna done was in a salon about 10+ years ago, my hair was relaxed then. Afterward, my hair was dry and brittle. Eventually it broke off. I don't know what happened but hennas have left a bad taste in my mouth after that experience. :(
I am currently growing out my permanent color and I would like to color my hair again but I'm not sure if I would. :ohwell:

I haven't used it, and not going to anytime soon. I take to many Prescription meds and I don't want any conflict with my meds. My hair is too sensitive to certain items.
