How long have YOU wanted long hair?

Same here since I was five or six. I remember putting shirts on my head and pretending it was my hair. Matter of fact I have a picture when I was little with a red shirt over my hair posing.

I also use to tie strings to the end of my plaits (about six or seven)with barrettes on the end of the strings. I would go around the house tossing my strings like it was hair. I loved the feel of the barrettes on my back like that's where my long hair was hitting :lachen:.

Ummm, I'll say since my first cut back in Nov 2007! But before then, I'd always had long hair in my eyes (between APL and BSL) but have NEVER ever been BSL in my life except as a child. That doesn't count though. But since I've been able to get to APL as a relaxed head, that's why I'm aiming for BSL as my goal as a natural head to reach.

Right now I'm content as it is, just want to continue to keep my hair healthy and the length will follow!

ETA: Only time I played like I actually had longer hair was when I dressed up as a witch last Halloween for an event our town was sponsoring for the kids in my area. That wig was past my butt!:lachen::lachen::lachen:

even my db (he's 10) wants that "cool" surfer hair that alot of boys his age are wearing or those faux hawks that the white kids wear... bless his dear soul lol

since I can remember...I've always wanted long hair. I had it for awhile thanks to weaves and braids:grin:!! Hopefully by Dec 08 my hair will be long(BSL)!!:yep:

I used to put a blanket or towel over my head and pretend it was hair just for the feel of having hair that was loose! my sister did it too, then my daughter too. Its like we all had the genes to do that or somethin! lol

that was me also :lachen:...my progress is taking forever though...i dont know :perplexed..gettting discouraged

Since forever...until middle/hs, when I "learned" that the only black girls that had long hair were mixed. So now, after much enlightening by LHCF, RIGHT NOW....

Since forever. I remember being a little kid with my sister, and we would sing that tune "Jermack Bounce Back Beautiful Hair" commercial jingle with a tshirt over our head. lol
But I honestly thought that black people just didn't have long hair. I thought I had to be rougher with my hair because it was nappy. And in all honesty my mindset has only change recently. I now know it is possible to have long hair if I treat my hair with care and treat it gently.

sounds like me. i used to pretend i had long hair and everything...then i hit college and wanted what was HOT instead, so i cut it, colored it, got tracks, bleached it, got more tracks, was forced to cut it again, decided to transition, and colored it again. then march of this year came...and i found LHCF...yeahhhhh.

For as long as I can remember.

When I was real little.

All My Life! :yep:

Thanks to you ladies and this board, with the help of others, I am achieving that dream.

I have given myself 5 years to reach my ultimate goal of WL and by Dec. 2010, I hope to be there or surpassed it. I am definately back on track to get there. :yep:

I wanted longer hair since high school. I always felt self-conscientious and it didn't/doesn't help that a so-called friend loves to bring up the fact that I had short hair in high school, any chance he gets in front of anyone who compliments my hair now. "Oh I remember in high school, her hair stopped here *puts hand to my ear* (wasn't even that short) and you always had little buns." I deliberately pressed my hair to show length after I took my twists out and sent it to a mutual guy friend who loves long hair. He was like "Yeah girl, work it. Did you show you know who yet so he can shut up?"

I can't remember! I grew up Muslim, so I ALWAYS had something long and flowy hanging off of the back of my head - maybe that helped with the 'long hair' desire.

Then, the first time I had 'long hair' (permed hair at APL+ when I was 18) I promptly chopped it all off (ah, the crack I was smoking) because 'it'll grow back'.

I really think that a true desire to actually WORK for long hair didn't come until after I had my dreads, and I realized just how much SIMPLER long hair is to work with than short hair..... so - 5 or 6 years, or so?

For as long as I can remember. What middle school kid cries when they have to get trims? My mom always took us to the hairdresser and I remember balling at the end of the summer if I had breakage from the chlorine and having to get a trim. I've always wanted long hair...

I've always wanted long hair, but I would rock my short hair styles and make others believe it was short b/c I wanted it that way.

So I wasn't the only one perpetrating like that! I used to front like I preferred my hair chin/shoulder length... when I would have sacrificed a goat to have BSL! :lachen:

Now I'm at APL and my hair FEELS so short, I'm just dying to at least hit waist length on my way to classic. Seeing all these pics of you gorgeous BSL ladies isn't helping!

I've wanted long hair as far back as I can remember. I used to attach bath towels to my head and enjoy the feel of it touching my back. I thank God for this site and the knowledge I've gained here.
