How long have you been heat free?

With the exception of once in November, I haven't used heat for 7 months

No direct heat since December 28th when I got my haircut. I don't plan on using any direct heat for at least 6 months. I always notice some small issue afterwards. I REALLY think I am beginning to distrust stylists to use heat on my hair. I know how much heat my hair can handle and how much it needs to get straight (very little) while stylists don't seem to know my hair as much as I do. They tend to not condition as well thus my hair looks almost frizzy when they are done. They don't condition as well. And then they don't detangle well so they yank a comb through and then blowdry and then curl! That's just too much stress on my hair. I am beginning to only trust myself. (oops...got off on a tangent there!)

Do any of you ever use the curling iron to straighten your hair. If so, how often. I have cut down a lot on this too, especially after my bangs disappeared this summer. I was curling them everyday. They went from being long to just a couple of inches ... not good! I haven't really worn bangs since = DAMAGE CONTROL!

I don't think I've used the blowdryer since I joined LHCF in July.

ballet bun, I've used a big barrel curling iron to straighten my hair twice. It works nicely.

I have a ceramic curling iron ... it's only a 1 inch though. I'm probably going to use it this week.

No curling iron in years. No blow-dryer in months. Hooded dryer for deep-conditioning and rollersets weekly.

No heat for a month. I didn't think my hair woud look as good air drying but it did with a little work. No blow dryers, no hood dryers except to deep condition. I wrap and air dry or braid and air dry. My husband loves the braid out look so I do those more often. My daughter is air drying too, she loves it because she has always hated the dryer!

Ballet Bun : How do you like your ceramic curling iron compared to a regular curling iron? What brand do you use? What size?

I cut down from blow drying every 2 weks in March last year to 3 times the remainder of 2003. I've not used a blow dryer since early December 2003, and that was on the lowest setting.

I want to try and avoid heat altogether this year but I want a big puff with my cornrows sooo bad...
