How long has it been since you've been to a salon?

2 years and I will never let anyone touch my hair ever again.

It was a Dominican salon and they literally fried off 5" of hair.

I never really frequented salons even when I was relaxed. (Though I did have a brief love affair with Dominica blow outs until my hair started to get thin). I haven't been to a salon in almost 3 years I think.

I got married in '07 so 4 years exactly this month. I went there for a bomb sew in that I destroyed in the Keys by scuba diving. Stupid crap hair.

lol I was just thinking of this. I want to go this weekend; I can't quite get that sleek flatiron look I want. I'm looking for someone who's okay with working w/ texlaxed hair without blowdrying it. I'm thinking I'll just still get a rollerset and flatiron, but think the products and techniques will be better at the salon. I'll still do my own relaxers tho *sideeye*

I have only been to the salon a hand full of times.

2000 for a wedding.
2001 for my high school boyfriends prom.
2002 for senior pics.
2006 for a layered cut.

Those are the only times I've been. It's been 5 years since my last visit. Definitely never relied on salons. I've been a DIY'er since I was a teen(with moms help with relaxers until I learned how to do it on my own).

Since going natural I go to the salon once or twice a year, if that.

When my hair was relaxed and prior to joining the hair boards I used to go at least 50 times a year LOL Kept them in business!

I went twice within the past 3 years or so for dusting by someone who understands what that means but that's about it.

April 2005. And if she hadn't had such a stank attitude I'd still be with her today! She got mad because I wouldn't let her "trim" my virgin relaxer, and was raking the comb from scalp to shoulder!!!

i haven't been to the salon in 2 years. i'm too scared to go, but i would loved to be pampered and have someone shampoo my hair and give me a nice scalp massage.

Besides going to natural stylists I went to a regular hair salon for a hair cut and straightening for the first time in 4 YEARS a month ago!!!!!!! LET ME TELL U it was a $5 dollar hair cut place and I was SO SCARED. This lil asian lady cut my hair and I was sweating bullets...but u know what I had a bunch of knots and dead ends and I was ok with losing a good inch or two.

Let me tell yall when that lady started snipping and flat ironing (cause of course i did the DC, COWASH AND blow out myself b4 i went in) *SNIP*SNIP* OMG I had a HELLO!!! hair moment. She gave me the most PERFECT haircut and straightened my hair really really nice. No damage--although it was smoking *so nervous* but it was fine and I was SO SHOCKED! I couldnt believe how nice and shiny and smooth my hair was. I had like a hairgasm! A hairphiphany! h♥irattack! (humor me) anyway I Here are some pics of my straightened hair when I did it myself and after my $5 haircut and $10 flat iron!!!!!!

AWESOME!!!

WHAT!?!? YOU ACTUALLY GOT A HAIR STYLIST TO ONLY DUST YOUR ENDS!!?!? Every stylist has that evil scissor happy doppleganger in them lol

perhaps a year. I really want to go and get a blow out and trim.. but I am scared of putting heat on my hair and.. the last "trims" I've had were devastating and I don't really trust anyone anymore. So I do it myself.

January so that makes 6 months. Some are ya'll are diligent! I only go to salons for sew ins so that's about 3 times the most a year.

7 months for me. December 2010 was the last time I went. When I hit my goal of WL I want to go get some longer layers cut. I wish I could do them myself but I don't dare. Hopefully, the stylist that used to trim my hair (that I never had a problem with just wanted to start DIY) will still be there and she will kindly help me out with that.

sept. 2009...but i want to start going to the salon (if i find a good stylist) for gradual trims and rollersets over the next few months.
