How long has it been since you've been to a salon?

I get my hair done everyweek :look: as much as I want long hair I personally hate doing my own hair besides the basics. So i pay someone else to do it. Once it does get longer Ill cut it down to every two weeks and do my own rollersets on the weeks I dont go to the salon

A little over a year. I don't plan to go back until I reach bra-strap so I can get my hair straightened and a professional blunt trim. Until then it's DIY for me!

My stylist and my barber work in the same salon. Last time I sat in my barber's chair was 14 months ago when I got my hair buzzed. Last time I sat in my stylist's chair was about 4 years ago.

I have only been to the salon a hand full of times.

2000 for a wedding.
2001 for my high school boyfriends prom.
2002 for senior pics.2006 for a layered cut.

Those are the only times I've been. It's been 5 years since my last visit. Definitely never relied on salons. I've been a DIY'er since I was a teen(with moms help with relaxers until I learned how to do it on my own).[/QUOTE]

Class of '02 yea yea! lol I've been the same. Oct. this year will make 4 full years for me. Then, the Oct. '07 visit was just for highlights and a style. Definitely LOVE doing my own hair and it allows me to experiment w. products. :yep:

Over a year ago.. I had an Angela Bassett moment and cut all my hair w/scissors then went to salon to have it even up... Haven't been back since... No need to.. I'm doing fine without em....

My mom used to take me to the salon every two weeks religiously because she just didn't know what else to do. I was just about APL at the time.
When I was 13, we tried a new place. I usually got a press n curl. The lady that did my hair was super nice and she said to my mom I needed a trim after she was done. So my mom agreed. Two weeks later she said the same thing. My mom didn't know (and still doesn't know) much about hair at all so she allowed it again. Two weeks later we came back and she just "trimmed" more without my mother's permission and when my mom came back to get me she told her that I needed it.

She cut about 3 inches of my hair just to get an extra 10 dollars for every trim.

We never came back, and I never trusted salons again.

However, I did go back when I was 15 to cut it to ear length before I got dreads.

Early April. My BFF came in town and needed her hair done for a stepping conference. I watched her get a Dominican blowout. I personally haven't been in the chair since December 9, 2010.

Its been about two months for me. I only go in for trims. My mom did my last chemical treatment and all went well so I will be DIYing it from now on. I only plan to go to the salon twice a year for trims.

I used to love the salon for chemicals but since her prices went up I just can't justify the expense. Luckily with the help of you ladies and youtube I have figured out how to do everything myself.

Haven't been in over 15 yrs!! I only go for a trim or cut, I do the rest. My Cosmetology license has helped me personally as I don't work in the field.

Its been two years of DIY :-). I'm happy things happened this way because in those two years I had a daughter and now I'm knowledgeable enough to care for her hair properly and naturally. Maybe one day I'll go back for a roller set if I find a great stylist but nothing else.

I went Monday to have my roots straightened for a wedding I'm in. And I can already see a difference. Breakage everywhere. I haven't been putting heat on my hair apart from when I sit under the dryer with my DC for awhile. I'm blown. That's what I get for people pleasing :-/. When that wedding is over I'm gonna DC with my aphogee 2 min and follow it with hairvedas green condish. And cowash everyday til I get back. Maybe have the SO do a Bantu or curlformers set so I can leave it alone. Y'all I am so hurt. My heart is just ugh.
