How long does it take you to detangle?

Wow. I guess I have no reason at all to complain when I hear people saying it takes them 45 minutes to an hour to detangle.

today it took less than 5 minutes. one thing i learned is that after a clairifying shampoo my hair does not like to be combed so i waited until the conditioner was in and the comb didn't slide thru cause my sections were big but i didn't hit any major road blocks

I'm with soulchild. An hour+ detangling at home.

The shampoo girls at every salon I've ever been to get really frustrated with me because they are in a rush to get through their clients. My fine 4b hair grows in these tiny ringlets that mesh with each other (naps), and the shampoo girls rip out a lot of hair trying to rush through it all. I don't like salons.

At home, I wash it in 4-8 braided sections. I let my braided hair dry partially before combing through. The relaxed length is easy, the new growth near the scalp is impossible. I don't like styling at home.

Takes me 5 minutes to detangle. Only because my hair is neck length (or a little longer) and I'm only 11 weeks post. :)

After my washing sessions, I would say 10-15 minutes with a wide tooth comb. My hair does'nt tangle that much anymore ever since I started braiding my hair up immediately after washing and leaving it like that for the whole week without manipulation. Its growing faster that way also. Now, after my hair has been in braids (which I'm currently wearing) for about 4-5 weeks, my detangling session would be about 15-20 minutes, if that.

My hair takes really long to detangle well because my hair's natural, super thick and my strands are extremely thin and break on a whim. I always pay for my detangling laziness in broken hair. I just took my box braids out after having them in for three weeks, it took 2 hours to detangle but that's including dry fingercombing and brushing prior to the wet comb out. On normal days when I detangle wet with condition it takes 45 mins to an hour.

It takes me about 30-40 minutes. What helps me is drenchching my hair with conditioner while its still dripping wet...and my scary bone comb.

I dont wash my hair in sections and i'm too lazy to hop in the shower so I wash my hair in the sink! (I know, i know!) It takes me about 10mins and it seems like forever. My newgrowth is very easy to comb thru when using the K-cutter and the Mizani botanifying shampoo because it turns my naps into wavy ringlets and it's very easy to comb thru. THEN like the mid section that was relaxed using no-lye...this is the section that takes forever to detangle. and as soon as i detangle it....it gets back detangled! The ends are relaxed with lye so it's not that bad.... It sucks to be me...

lol...I envy you girls, because it takes me a good 45 minutes to get my hair detangled. I use CON and I would consider that a good detangling product, it's just that my hair is weird. My hair is curly natural...or wavy...well whatever it is, I hate to wash it because I get very impatient with the detangling. My hair is the type that once you get it detangled, as soon as you leave it for a minute, it just gets tangled again. I usually put Ultra Sheen while my hair is damp, since I press it, and it helps, but whatever I do, I still have a problem. I am skeptical as to what to use on my hair because the product my cause my hair not to press well.
I've tried a leave-in conditioner, and it worked great! But my hair was never pressed straight after I used it...so I stopped using it. You would think after 11 years of pressing my hair, at least it would be straight when it gets washed...geez. Needless to say, my hair ONLY comes out when I wash it...and you guessed it...when I detangle.
