Keep in mind, I'm a product junkie and I tend to overdo things, so please be honest if you think I've got too much going on here. My hair isn't in the worst shape, but it's not in the best shape either. I don't have many split ends, but I have some. I want to grow my sides out as long as the back. I want my hair to be soft to the touch, smell good and have lots of body. I'd also like for it to have a healthful gloss without oiling it to death, like i do now.

So here it is:

Start out with a clarifying conditioner. Then do a no-poo rinse every other day. Oil, twist into a bun and let air dry.

On the days between rinses, use Biolage tonic and conditioning balm and put my hair into a bun.

Pretreat my hair the night before with a hot oil treatment. Shampoo my hair the next day with either Dove intensive moisture shampoo or Biolage hydrating shampoo (haven't decided which yet) and condition with Pantene Sleek and Smooth. Twist and let air-dry.

Once every two weeks, shampoo with a clarifying shampoo and deep condition with Infuisum power pac under the hairdryer.

Once a month shampoo and do a protein treatment with either Aphogee or Nexxus Keraphix.

Sound okay? Please let me know if I left anything out or if that's too much and will stress my hair.

Thanks!

edited because I left out a couple of things

sounds good, but I'm wondering a few things

*Many of the ladies may disagree with me but I don't think it's good to wet the hair so frequently (I think a max of 3X/weekly is good)
Water stretches and slightly swells the hair and actually it's in a fragile state when it's wet. Consider this.

*Some may say that you're clarifying alittle too often--but if you are going to be conditioning every other day--then I don't think that every 2 weeks is too often.

*I noticed on the days that you don't rinse, you'll be using the Biolage Leave-In Tonic and Conditioning Balm. Have you found that the conditioning balm works well as a leave in? I'd like to try that if you have

Supergirl, I thought that I may be clarifying a bit too often, but my hair tends to feel "goopy" really easily. But that's with my current hair care regimen, so I don't know how it's going to act once I change it. So I guess I'll just clarify on an "as-needed" basis...once I start to feel the "goop" coming on.

In regard to wetting the hair too often, when I was in Hawaii, I washed my hair every day and let it air dry. They have this red dirt and it gets airborne and gets into everything...including your clothes and hair. It was so bad that when I scratched my head, I'd get red dirt under my fingernails (gross, I know...sorry!

) But I noticed that my hair stopped shedding so I must have been doing something right!

I don't know about the Biolage just yet. I've heard so many here rave about it, so I decided to give it a try. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thank you for your input. This is all new to me, so I appreciate all the help I get here!

Hi,

if you can remember to do all those steps go for it
smile.gif
I am sure that you will make any necessary adjustment accordingly. Personally that is just to much work for me to remember.

How does the claifying conditioner work? Do you use it in replace of shampoo? I need to clarify more frequently also and need to find something that is not very harsh. Now I simply add some baking soda to my conditoner to wash.

JazzAngel, I plan to use the clarifying conditioner in place of the shampoo. I was also looking for something that isn't as hard on my hair as clarifying shampoos. They dry my hair out completely and afterwards, it takes a week for my hair to bounce back. And in the meantime, I end up putting all kinds of "goop" in my hair just to make it act right.

lunalight7, do you find that the clarifying conditioner leave your hair more moisturized than a clarifying shampoo? Does it get all of the product buildup out as well? I haven't used one yet. It just makes more sense in theory to use a clarifying conditioner over a clarifying shampoo.

!!

I was thinking the same thing when I posted it! Luckily I have a palm pilot that helps me to remember the things i need to do on a daily basis. So I'll just set reminders for myself and I'm sure I'll be fine!

HH, The Ensure is quite mild and moisturizing and I like the scent. It seems to help my deep condit act better on my hair. I emailed Nexxus about this product. It is meant to be used alone - - not w/ a million other products like we do on this board

. In another thread, I think someone else felt it should be the last thing you use because a clarifier closes the cuticle. What can I say...It works for me the way I use it.
