How do you trim on hair that hasn't been straightened?

So I'm transitioning and I think I want to start cutting an inch every 2 months but I don't want to flat iron my hair because it will go POOF with the warm weather. What's the best way to cut so that my hair can still come out even....not perfectly even but I don't want it to be lookin a mess when I wear my hair out.

If you still have relaxed ends it should be too much of a problem since the hair will stay straight. Cutting curly hair is more of a challenge since it shrinks up. Are you going to do this yourself or go to a salon?

I'm going to try myself although I've never cut anything but my bangs. I'm more on the texlaxed side but I'll only being doing braidouts and similar styles so that shouldn't be too much of a problem? Should I trim it wet or dry?
