Whenever I straighten my hair it looks stuck together and has this unmovable look and feel to it. I have 4a transitioning hair by the way. Last weekend I went to a high end salon and got it done. The stylist washed, conditioned, sectioned, blowdried, and flatironed my hair. My hair flipped and bounced like my name was Molly Sue. It glistened, was just as glossy as it could ever be. She literally turned straw into gold. And it has lasting effects.

The only thing added to my hair after the conditioner was heat protectant. My hair was extremely knotty from the wash. I figured it had to be the technique. Anyone know how I can do this at home? I can't sell out $60 dollars plus tip every two weeks. I'm in college. Also I don't like relying on salons.

I agree....less products helps keep your hair from getting stiff....HOWEVER!!!....I want to know how can i get my hair to look like i JUST got a relaxer at 8 and 10 weeks post?...I see NATURAL heads on here that straighten their hair on here and it looks like they got a relaxer...so what is the technique?

I use Ojon leave-ins (some contain cones) and comb-chase method with a rat tail comb using Sedu Revolution.

ETA: small sections

I just flat ironed last night. My hair was airdried. All it had on it was IC Fantasia with Aloe leave in and a quarter sized of CHI silk infusion. I parted in four sections. I work with one section first. I parted an 1/8 inch in width section of hair. Combed out any tangles. I started at the scalp and slid with flatiron down the hair, while having a small amount of tension to the hair. Each section took one or two passes. My flatiron was set at between 375-400 degrees. Each section took about 5-8 minutes. I use the Sedu Revolution. Small sections and minimal product is key. HTH

 OMG YES!!!!......YES!!!!....I LOVE her hair everytime i see it!! Is she a member here??

I really need to try the comb chase method.:yep:.....:yep::yep::yep:

I know...isn't she awesome??????? I swear I've watched each one of her videos a thousand times, and I'm still awe-struck like it's my first time seeing it. I don't think she's a member here, but I could be wrong. You should try that comb chase method. I tried to imitate her technique last time I straightened my hair, and it did come out pretty good. I think her secret is little product, pressing in tiny tiny sections using the comb chase method, and only a few passes from root to tip. I like how she tapped her roots first before flat ironing the entire strand. Her and her hair are AMAZINGGGGGGG!!!!

Just tried this technique last night and it came out great. I had to up the heat on my FHI just slightly and I'm flowing in the wind now!!!

The last time I straightened my hair and turned my Sedu up past 350, I got that burning hair/product smell. :nono:

I don't know.It was definitely ceramic. I didn't feel one wave of heat on my scalp. My edges were laying down. It looked better than any relaxer I've ever had. It didn't look any fancier than the revlon flatiron I have back home.

If I can do it myself than that would hold me off every other month until I can make it 1.5 post to BC. It held moisture and everything without adding anything to it. Dang!! I can't wait to try this on my own but I only use heat sparingly. ( Not until another two weeks).

I will definitely try the comb and chase method. She did something very similiar except it was a bristle round brush.

Oh, I would try Sedu Revolution if you're looking for flatiirons. It's come up twice in this thread.
