How do you share the Gospel?

I ask... because before I came to this forum I realized that I had been hiding the light that Jesus had given me under a bushel for eight years...

Through prayer, fasting, reading the Word, interacting with you all, I realized how diverse we are in communicating the faith that God has given us...

One thing that does work for me is this:
Trying to uderstand the person first and where he/she is in their journey.

One thing that I does not work for me is this:
Trying to talk English when the person only understands French. What I mean is this: I don't talk to them in a language that they don't understand. I look at the Scriptures and ask God to help me to use language that they can relate to. So for example if it's hip hop, then I ask God to give me hip-hop... If it's metaphysical, I ask Him to give me the words for that, too..

I'm still seeking Jesus to bring me to a greater understanding of His plan for other people and my role in this plan...

So now I ask, what have you seen God do through you... What produces fruit and what doesn't?

The Gospel is basic and simple...I keep it that way and share it the way the Lord leads me to do it. I have led many, many people to Christ and the one thing that I know is that people DO want to hear about Him. It's just the approach, that's all.

Glad to know that you are seeking the Lord about this.

Thank you. Your insight has been helpful.

I realized fairly recently that I was a dead Christian-- mainly because of my circumstances, I did not talk to people who were not Christians... For four years, I served as an editor for a large Christian organization, so I did not come in contact with many non-believers at work. Then I became a work-a-home mom. Which can be even more isolating...

I found that God was using me to encourage new believers, but I was not seeing many people come to know Christ through me...

I've been saved for 20 years and I have seen many, many things take place in peoples lives. I have some really good friends that I have led to Christ and who are now ministers of the Gospel. The one thing that I know, without a doubt, is that the Lord is faithful. When you are doing His work, He will always allow an opening for the Gospel to be preached.

I was on a cruise one year and was in the jacuzzi. My husband was sitting a few feet away. I was alone in the jacuzzi at first, and then a couple came in. We exchanged hellos, where you froms, that sought of thing. All of a sudden, the guy mentions God. Well, that to me is an open door to witness the Gospel. By the time we got out of the jacuzzi, both gave their hearts to Jesus and were joyfully crying their eyes out. They both said that no one has ever presented God in a powerful, yet simple way to them..that they were able to understand what I was saying to them.

The key is....keep it simple, yet..always have an answer for the hope that is within you. God's Word is powerful all by itself...we don't have to add drama to it to get it across to the people...the Holy Spirit knows just how to reach them. Amen.

Blessings....:p

hmmm could you come talk to my dad, and my friend, and friends' brothers? :look:
I love to read things like these Wavy and one of my utmost desires and prayers is that God uses me for great things, for his glory.
As far as sharing the gospel and witnessing, thus something I'd have a difficult time doing with strangers, plus I'm still learning myself. But like I said I'm praying to be used my God

A bit O.T: I'm wondering if it's God's will that everyone be saved and if that's the case how come some people just don't believe in Christ... I mean my mum has been desiring for my dad to believe for years and still nothing, I know people who have praying some loved ones for a while and still nothing... So today, especially because I'm worried about something in particular, I ask myself if some people are not meant to be saved...

Wow, okay so I felt led to respond. I've been struggling with this question for the past year or so. Well, I won't say 'struggling' exactly but it's been something I have been thinking about it. I'll share what I think.

It's important to be a light to others, and probably the most important way to do it is to lead a life that truly represents Christ as much as possible. People will see and in that way, we become lights to the world. If you're praying and reading your Bible everyday, the Holy Spirit convicts us to begin letting go of things that we need to let go of in order to become better ambassadors for Christ. The Holy Spirit also speaks to us about those who we should minister to.

We have to be SO careful about what we say, what we do, what we wear, etc etc because in all things we should represent Christ and people will notice there's a difference. People sense it. More importantly, it makes God happy that we make these selections with Him in mind. I think the way we live our life and carry ourselves is probably the biggest part of sharing the Gospel.People notice.

An example: Praying before you eat. Just bowing your head. It may get someone thinking. We don't do it for other people, we do it for God. Other people will notice. I'll give you an example:

A girl (girl A) prayed before her meal in a university setting. A man behind her, in a seperate table, also bowed his head. A lady (girl B)) 10 feet away yelled at the man, "You're Christian?" The man said "yes, are you?" She said no. Girl A invited Girl B to her to eat with her. " She suddenly started asking questions about Christianity. 15 minutes later, the man behind her joined them and started ministering to her. They ended up talking for an hour. She didn't commit her life to Christ then, but I'm sure that's a seed that was planted or watered some more...

The more we're walking with the Spirit, the more our actions and words will reflect Him. We can't be afraid to talk about Him.

For a long time I thought my ministry group was abroad, now I realize that I have a few individuals in my life who I've been led to for a reason - mainly my family.

I don't think we should fear when we speak to people. We should pray knowing that GOD is SO big that His grace is sufficient for us and He will speak to the people we're speaking to. We try our best and the Holy Spirit moves. Loudly.

I've prayed for a few people WHILE talking to them in my hearts. I'm praying that God will remove the last of my anxiety, because sometimes I feel myself saying "Ohmygosh, what do I say?" I need to realize that I should try to be myself, speak the simple truth, and the Holy Spirit will intercede.

The most important thing I do is live like GOD wants me to live. Meaning when I was in the military I never cursed, got into office gossip and mess. I didn't go out drinking and clubbing with the others, and when something good happens, I was quick to say that GOD is good. People watch how you live and they start to notice that something is different about you. They will wonder how you seem to have peace through storms, how you can smile when things are bad, and then they will come and ask or the Holy Spirit will make a way for you to share in the goodness of Jesus. Just continue to pray and seek GOD and He will guide you towards witnessing to others. You will be amazed at how a simple conversation about clothes or food will lead to Christ. Q

Yes, I totally agree with all of you about walking out your faith and keeping it simple. That has been my history for 9 years. But I was finding that I totally isolated myself from talking to non-believers.

After I began working (recieving a paycheck) for God. I found that I was not making much of an effort outside of editing and writing for the organization. I would work, come home, go to church, and occasionally fellowship with other believers...

Then I had children, and my time was even more limited. My friends were saying that this has been a season and that I'm pouring my faith into my kids.

I hope that this is the case, because I would not want to get to the judgement seat and say, "but God didn't I write and edit for You and He say You never really knew me..." Then see all of my works burn up...

This has been on my heart for about a year...

I feel God is pressing upon my heart for more of Him... I'm not sure how it will manifest itself... I wasn't sure how to communicate it with my other Christian friends, but I felt comfortable confessing it here...

Thank you...:)

I mean my mum has been desiring for my dad to believe for years and still nothing, I know people who have praying some loved ones for a while and still nothing... So today, especially because I'm worried about something in particular, I ask myself if some people are not meant to be saved...

Here are some Scriptures that adress this:

1) "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him." John 3:16

My empahsis added... It's probably the most quoted Scripture concerning this matter... Please read the whole chapter for the context...

2) Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not lose heart, but we have renounced the things hidden because of shame, not walking in craftiness or adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.--2 Corithinans 4:1-5

From this passage, I again gather that it is not God's will for a soul to perrish. But rather the god of this world (satan--who takes many forms) blinds people from seeing the plan that God has for them.

and

3)"Nevertheless, the LORD your God was not willing to listen to Balaam, but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you because the LORD your God loves you." Dueteronomy 23:5

I think this passage speaks to everyone who has a heart to read it. "Balaam" could also be exchanged for: satan/false gods/the cares of this world/distractions... God will turn a curse into a blessing for anyone who loves and seeks him.

Did you add your loved ones to the thread of salvation? Many of us are praying for the people on that list.

ETA: As I share these passages with you, God has confirmed in my spirit that this has been a season. I wanted to be a harvester, but He has made me a planter and a waterer (during this time)... I don't know if it will change in the near future or if I will be in this season for more years... He wants me to continue planting and watering and be content doing that... Thank you all for sharing your experiences and advice with me...

Thanks a lot Kelouis for these scriptures and for sharing your understanding of them... I'll read them again for more understanding

Bless you

Lovin' this thread because it has to do with God's greatest commandment, love. Loving Him and sharing His word. Loving others. Loving ourselves. It's great.

I know what you mean about the bubble, I sometimes feel like that too. You never know, God may put a non-Christian associate in your life who you may disciple one day. =)

I think this is one of the best topics on here. Thanks for starting this one, Kelious. :)

I usually share the Gospel by giving my testimony and telling others what God has done in my life. I try to be a good listener, letting them know that I've done wrong and I'm not afraid to admit it, but I'm saved by grace.

Ultimately, I try to live the Gospel by being kind, generous, humble, and listening to others without judgement. I try to use every area of my life to give glory to God.

The more I share the Gospel, the better I get at it, so I think practice in this area is good.

It is an ongoing process to be better on today than we were on yesterday. Each morning i wake up i remember that i am supposed to be ye an imitator of Christ. That constantly stays on my mind to live a life worthy of being called His child and i try to behave as arepresentative of the King. I let the Holy Spirit guide my actions. But i love to also tell others that we are saved by grace and we all fall short and have sinned but God is faithful and just to forgive us of all sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. It's an ongoing process. Some days i fall short of my goal but i keep trying to strive towards the mark.

Oh-- I just came back and saw that more posts had been made. :) It's good to see how God is working through other people.
