how do you prevent breakage from braids?

How do you prevent your ends from breaking when you take down your braids. My girlfriend has a good amount of new growth and she's really trying to hold on to it.

Keep the hair in the braids moisturized by using braid spray. You can also use a strengthening hair spray like Surge or Infusium 23. That's all I can think of for now. I'm the other ladies will have more advice. HTH!

I use vasiline on my ends before I get it braided and keep putting in the ends even when they are in the braids

how long has she been wearing braids? Tell her to try oiling the length of her braids after applying a water based moisturizer.

keep them moisturized. and try not to make the braids too heavy for the hair. esp along the hairline

don't pull the braids to much and make sure they are not braided to tightly.

Yung, she needs to be very careful in the combout. Take each individual braid section and separate it with fingers first and then, starting from the ends of the hair going up to the roots gently detangle. Make sure to comb through once the detangling is finished. Good Luck!

YuNg, she must keep her hair moisturized paying particular attention to the ends and oil the ends after using a water-based moisturizer. she must also be sure to do deep conditoning once or twice a week with a condtioner with a good protein and moisture balance. Good luck.

I was told that the type of hair you use to braid with really makes a difference. The softer the hair, the better.
