crlsweetie912 said:OT, sareca, how is the biosil? Have you done the Biotin pills? Do you get any breakouts from the Biosil? Thanks!
sareca said:I did biotin. I didn't notice any hair changes. So when I bottle ran out I didn't restock. I'm taking in liquid BioSil, but I took the pills the last time. I've dramatically cut back on BioSil because I don't want straight hair (no offense, ya'll know I love ya'll). I'm hoping the curl will reform but so far it hasn't. I didn't get any breakouts from BioSil. To date, MSM is the only thing that's made me breakout. But I've even cut back on that because I thought it might be contributing to the straightening effect. *sigh*
It was about $18 for the liquid. The bottle isn't even 1/2 empty after 2 months! They say to use use 6-12 drops/day. I used 6drops/day until I realized my hair was straight. Now I use 6 drops 2X/week. I got mine from Wholefoods. The pills are $14 for a 30 day supply. Doesn't even compare.crlsweetie912 said:Do you order your biosil? Do they have it in any stores? Thanks!
ETA: shipping is a mutha! Also, how much does it cost? TIA!

cheche said:Hi I had the same question a few weeks ago, and this is the information another LHCF member provided to me (see the link below). I have done this process four times since she gave me the link, and my hair felt really soft, less brittle and I had no breakage. I alternate products using Mane and tail conditioner or Doo Gro growth repair conditioner. The key seems to be putting a plastic bag on your hair after applying the product. I hope this info is helpful.
Co-wash means conditioner only wash. Here is a great link that explains it all

RelaxerRehab said:Just out of curiosity... I've been wanting to understand the logic/purpose of the pre-poo. I have run searches as well and did not get a definitive collection of information to help my comprehension....
The one point that does not settle for me is the idea of putting products on "dirty" hair (meaning that the point of shampooing/washing the hair is to clean it, yes? So I'm trying to understand how the pre-poo product(s) are "helping" the hair if it's sitting on top of product/build-up that's already on the hair....
Thank you in advance for your patience in responding.
sareca said:I think the idea is dry hair absorbs more product than wet hair because wet hair is already saturated with water.
Dirt would be a bigger issue because unless you're using a chelating poo, pooing isn't removing product build-up. It's just removing dirt and oil. I can't speak for anybody else, but I poo 2X/week so my hair isn't really dirty and I use a clarifying conditioner once/wk so it doesn't have buildup either and pre-poos have been a Godsend. It made a big difference in the efficacy of my conditioners. There's only one way to find out if it will do the same for you...RelaxerRehab said:Ok... but isn't the potential for absorption lessened considerably by the fact that the hair already has some product (build-up) on it?

naturallady said:RR, I have been wanting to understand the purpose of pre-poo as well and I am sitting here with a mixture of Pre-poo Oils from queshaun.com, and Africas Best Herbal Oils on my hair. I will sit under the dryer for 10-15 min and then wash, cond. I'll let you know how it comes out.
OK. Instead of the dryer, I left it on overnight for about 14 hrs. I washed it out w/ CON and cond. w/ VO5 Stawberry Moisture Milk. The results: my hair is soft, but no softer or better than it normally is. I cant really tell if there is any differeance. My conclusion: No more pre-poo for me. I suggest you try it for yourself though b/c everybodys hair is diff. Sometimes I just do a oil mix of Jojoba, castor and evoo works great every time.
sareca said:Me too, me too, but I use amla or kemi, alone or mixed together. The next day I poo then rinse w/ amla tea. Sometimes I do it right before I poo.
