:) Hey everyone, I am trying to find the best methods to not only grow, but to maintain my lenght trough conditioning, I just wanted to poll the lovely ladies here at LHCF, and see which method you use to deep contion and why. Thanks

Of all those mentioned, I only have a dryer. So that is what I use. It was recommended in a couple of books that I read.

ive heard and read (here) that heat allows the conditioner to penetrate better. I do it partly because its real cold here so i get some heating at the same time:p

Sometimes, if i dont have time to keep still i will just keep the conditioner on all day under a bag/cap instead. I also do this more in summer, cos i dont need the heat.

I always deep condition with a plastic cap on my head. Depending on how much time I have I condition for either a hour or overnight

Thanks everyone, I am really curious to see if it is better to steam hair, and where I can get a protable steamer from

I usually dc using a plastic cap over my head...under a dryer for at least 30 minutes.

When I'm feeling lazy...I'll just put on a plastic cap and let my hair dc without heat...for about 1 hr or 2.

I DC under the dryer. Only if I have time I DC without heat, but for the most part I use the dryer.....

I usually DC at the salon under a hooded dryer for 15min but when I'm home I use a plastic cap and a towel for a better part of the day.

Why do you use two caps? Does it make it penetrate more or something?

I DC under a hooded dryer with a plastic cap for about 30 min/wk. If I don't feel like sitting under the dryer than I use 2 plastic caps and leave it on for 1-2 hours. I figure 2 caps generate more heat.

Hey, lmjenk67, maybe I would try the 2caps thing and see if I get a better result. I look at lonei's hair and I want to start steaming my hair regularly, she has some beautiful hair

i apply my dc- then put on a thin plastic cap- sit under my sofr bonnet carel dryer for 1/2 and hour- apply another conditioner- massage in- then sit back under the dryer for another half hour.

I deep condition with a wet warm towel (heated in microwave) for about 15 minutes...

I deep condition with my Mastec heating cap for 45 min this cap gets really hot I love it.
I only do my protein treatment under a hooded dryer for 15-20 minutes.

I use dryer heat, but most times after being under the dryer, I will leave it on even longer - covered with a plastic cap while I workout or do chores.

I DC with a plastic cap, for no less than 30 mins..but i warm my cond up in the micro for about 15 secs, plus i add olive oil too it..just a smidgen..warm up and put on my cap..

I mix my conditioner with sweet almond oil before applying, add more oil on the ends with the baggy method, then cover with a shower cap and go under the dryer for at least 30 minutes.

I used to use a heat cap or hooded dryer. When the beautician used a steamer for my DC, my hair grew extremely fast over the summer after a cut. I found a steamer on ebay for a decent price.

I deep condition using a plastic cap under the hood dryer for 30 minutes. If I am really pampering myself and not in a hurry, I will just DC overnight with the plastic cap on.

I apply my conditioner concoction and cover it with a plastic cap. I sit under a hood dryer for a minimum of 20 minutes, but it's usually closer to an hour. Then I sit (or get things done) without heat for 10-15 minutes and then rinse.

Thanks Undefeated Queen, I would look at ebay, a lot of people have told me the benefits of having a steamer, I should really look into it.

I usually condition my hair in the shower with a cap for a little while. Or, I'll flip my hair over the bathtub, shampoo, apply conditioner, put on a cap and towel-get things done around the house...come back and rinse. I use the dryer if I really have dryness issues.
