I want to have APL hair soon! It used to be there and I cut it at one point and it has grown back but it is BSL and I want APL. I know it takes time but I see people on the site whos hair grows drastically in 3 months time. I probably need 4 inches to get there:perplexed Can someone give me some tips on what to do. I wash with M<iss clairol peppermint shampoo and i added some peppermint oil to it. I used to use ORS con and sit under my bonnet drier now I have some Hair mayo con. I use jojoba oil and coconunt oil on my hair for moisture and shine. I think I need to find a good hair style where there is no manipuation because I cannot braid or flat twist my own hair. I find that when I try to single two strand twist my hair is breaking off everywhere. I have not tried that in a couple months and I have it pressed and flat ironed. I do not want to keep getting presses blow dried and flat ironed. I want to find some good products that will help acheive shiny healthy looking braid out/twist outs that I can do myself. Please HELP:nono:

I'm confused. :spinning: BSL is longer than APL. Did you mean that you have shoulder length hair?

Let's assume that by BSL you meant Barely Shoulder Length ....
but around here, bsl is Bra-strp length...:lachen:
No but seriously, are you natural or relaxed, is you har fine in density?

The number 1 tip I know is to keep your hair off your shoulders. the other one is to reduce the heat applied in your hair.
For the rest, I think you are doing fine.

^^I know washing and moisturizing is important. I do it weekly. I am only shoulder length though.

How often did people wash their hair to get to APL?

Currently, I wash once a week. I have been getting some good growth. I wonder if I should wash it more though. Maybe I will get to APL faster.

Ooohhhh okay. I was confused! When I joined LHCF I was shoulder lenght with thinning ends. My hair was EXTREMELY overprocessed and I was using heat almost EVERY day. :nono: Hopefully by my one year LHCF anniversary I will be APL.

The things that helped me the most were eliminating heat and doing protective styles to keep my hair off of my shoulders. Moisturizing was also something that I think is helping my hair along. Another MAJOR contributing factor to growing my hair is stretching relaxers. I can't stress that enough. Your hair will never be healthy if you overlap your relaxer applications. The hair that is growing out of my scalp is now SO much thicker and healthier than my ends.

I am fairly new ladies sorry for not understanding the length thing:spinning: I have not had a relaxer since Septmenrt 07 and I am trying to not go back to the relaxer. :perplexed My hair is thick and I do not have a curl pattern at all back into a pony tail it will get wavy but no curls. My hair is shoulder length and I just wanted some tips on what to do and how to wear it. I guess I want Mid back Length (MBL) hair if I am saying this right?

I have been doing all the moisturizing, DC, and stretching but I went to a stylist who would always overlqp and now I have damage that needs to be cut off.

Make sure you eat a balanced diet wiith lots of water. Exercise and get enough sleep.

  1. proactive styles
  2. stretch out relaxers
  3. DC every wash
  4. rollerset (flat iron/blow out roots IF NEEDED on low heat)
  5. PATIENCES!

Try JOICO K-PAK SHAMPOO AN CONDITIONER,

Keep your hair healthy (Shampoo, Deepconditon, Protein, Moisturize daily, Oil, little heat as possible)

Leave it alone as much as posible to get the least amount of breakage you can (maybe wash 1x a week,---wear rollerset, braidous, twistouts, bantusets, airdry, buns ect. ect.)

Make sure you eat healthy, take your vitamins, get enough sleep and protien in your diet

And if you beleive they work--Internal growth aids: Biotin, Sulfur
and external growth aids

There was a thread a min. ago talking about getting 3 inches in 3 months if it was possible and how to, i think i posted in it.

But i think its possible to go from getting 0.50" a month to 0.75 or maybe even 1"

But IMO you should always set aside the time it would normally take (in your case 8 months if you get .50" a month), and if you get their sooner, great!

I'm not too sure what " APL" hair.. but I read that "BSL" Barely Shoulder Length.. So I'm assuming you want your hair to grow. ..

I honestly feel that You.. have to learn about your hair. What works for someone else.. may not work for you . Everyones hair is different. I read someone said.. they stretch out getting perms.. 4,5,12 months.. That may work for them.. but I Know for me- my hair would break if I didnt get one every 8 weeks.

My hair was severely damaged.. and I just started investing in products. Alter Ego,Luna,Placenta.. things I get at my dominican salon. I also have a reconstructer.. and sit under the dryer for about 15 minutes with it. I also cut my ends every time I get a perm..
