I know many suffer from this and it would be nice to know how you ladies manage. God's Blessings and thanks for responding!

I finally tried the ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) rinse and you can literally eat off my scalp. I've done it twice so far and I have yet to see a flake.

I tamed my dandruff by
  • Not getting Dominican blowouts every week
  • Creating my own oil mix with rosemary (this was a godsend)
  • I applied the oil every night and eventually (within a couple of weeks ) all of the dandruff was gone. Been dandruff free for over 4 months.

Coconut oil, Peppermint Oil, and Rosemary Oil are all Oils used to treat dandruff..I mix all of these in a conditioner on dry hair over night as a prepoo. It tingles and feels great. It stimulates the scalp so it also promotes hair growth. I do this 2x to 3x a week......I had bad dandruff I've been trying to get rid of for over 10 years.......and its gone!!!:yep: Thanks to LHCF.......

I also keep my scalp clean from dirt and oils

I also use a similar mix. But instead of using rosemary oil, I use rosemary leaves and let the mixture sit for 1 week so that it can "marinade".

ACV did nothing. I tried it several times. I may try coconut oil but I have been changing the way I wash and rinse my scalp.

I haven't seen a single flake of dandruff since I started using BT so I imagine it's the oils (EVOO and Coconut). I massage my scalp at least every other night for a couple of minutes. Before LHCF, I had dandruff my entire relaxed hair life. No-lye perms are very drying.

more frequent washes keeps my dandruff at bay along with trying to keep most of the hair products I use off of my scalp.

I conditioner wash once a week and clarify once a month with baking soda. Before I was washing once a week, I used Qhemet's Tea Tree Pomade and that zapped the dandruff and itchy scalp instantly.

Hey Carib!

Are you sure you have dandruff. I thought I had it too for the longest until some recent events. I started a thread about it and the info I found. You might just have negative buildup which will look like dandruff. ACV rinses would be good to try either way.

I was the queen of "corn flakes" my dandruff was so bad, I went to the dermatologist (sp) and got a prescription for Nizerol. Nothing else worked. I don't know if it was that stuff or something else, but I haven't had dandruff for 7 years!!

Sulfur 8 baby.. Once I stopped going to Dominicans, my so-called dandruff cleared up. Now imagine, getting your hair washed and set every week and still suffer from dandruff. I once believe dandruff was caused by dirty hair but that's not the case becuase I've gone 3 weeks w/out washing and never had not even an itch. So after thinking about it, I've come to the realization that I was getting something like dandruff because the Dominican salon I was going to does not disinfect their combs and brushes properly hence dandruff... Now after doing my own hair for the last 5 years I don't have dandruff anymore and I don't have to use Sulfur 8 any more either.

Hey Gym,

I don't have dandruff but my good friend does. After her visit to a DR salon, it got worse. She said that she never had it that badly but noticed it got crazy after her visit :perplexed. Anyway, I made a shakaki/amla/hesh/paste mixed with evoo oil and said she said it seemed a lot better but I don't know if that will work permenantly. I will recommend an ACV rinse like you guys are recommending :yep:. Also some coconut oil infused with rosemary.
How often do you ladies do the acv rinse?

"corn flakes"- how funny! Wow- Good for you :yep:!

Lenzi's Request oil (the liquid one not the pomade) made my flaky scalp disappear. My flakes were from dryness especially in the the crown area.

So I think oil/EO blends can really help, like other's have mentioned.

Traycee, ITA on the bolded but I mix mine with MN and I have not seen or experienced any dandruff or itching of the scalp since I've started using this mixture in November last year.

I haven't seen a flake since I started co-washing.

Is there a difference between dandruff and dry scalp? I used to have scales all along my hair line and just dry & itchy eveyrwhere.

No more since co-washing. None.

Hey Carib....send your friend to the neutrogena website. In the hair section, they have info on the different types of dandruff and how to treat and identify each one.

Oooo, thanks Gym! I'll check it out myself, too. I made a mixture of peppermint oil, shikakai, alma, and coconut oil for her to massage on her scalp. She said that she has very little dandruff after applying the AV powder and oil mixture on her scalp :yep:.

You ladies rock!!!! :grin::grin::grin:
