How come.....

it seems like your edges never get any longer? You relax them and they are soooo straight but then a few weeks later you have a ton of BB's hanging around and they are the same length they were when you relaxed?
I do not have tight braids or pull my hair back so my edges are not stressed.

Queenofmean68,

ITA with your statement. My hair does the same thing and it irriates me that just after three weeks of touch up the edges look so rough and i am still waiting for them to grow and blend in with the rest of my hair. I use to wear cornrows and braids and my hairline was stressed due to that.

Hmmmmm, I honestly have no idea. I guess that could be possible.

At the very edges my hair doesn't grow very long... like baby hair. Could that be it?

BB's!!! LOL...

Well, this is just a theory of mine, but... maybe b/c when we relax the edges we relax the entire length of the edges EVERYTIME. Of course, it would be very close to impossible not to. It's hard enought to relax only the new growth on the rest of your head, let alone your edges..... hmmm... well, it's just a theory

I agree with dolce...most people's edges break terribly because they rerelax them every time they touch up...I hate the BDB's, but im going to hold out for a verrrrrrrrrrrry long time before a relax any hair around the edges...I can usually flatten/smooth them with something like mango butter, a brush and a scarf

Now that I'm natural my edges are about as long as the rest of my hair, in fact I took a "shrinkage pic" of them yesterday. I think like Dolce said, unfortunately when relaxing they get overproccessed most of the time probably leading to breakage, because like you said they're definitely growing, hence the "BDBs"

I have the same problem, queen. I'm glad someone else brought this up, because it's something that has always bothered me, but I don't think I ever gave it real thought. And shoot, you're still 2 steps ahead of me, because my neck BDBs NEVER seem to lay down...at least you get a few weeks of post-relaxer "discipline" out of yours!
