How Are Those 2008 Hair Resolutions Coming Along?

Ah - I answered in the thread, but I'll answer here too...

1) My hairline is still a work in process, but it's much better than it was at the start of the year.
2) With more length, came more ease and creativity in creating protective styles, so that's a total success.
3) I made shoulder-length stretched in August instead of June, but I think I know why, so I consider that a total success, too.

I didn't post in that thread but I did accomplish a lot this year. I gained inches, got rid of some crappy ends, helped stop the formation of those crappy ends, worked on my scalp some more, and finally mastered air drying.

Below are my resolutions in the original thread:
1) to become a DIY'er - no more salon visits for me
2) to have a solid regimen
3) to have a healthy head of hair
4) to reach neck length
5) to not become a PJ

I've accomplished 1 - 4. :yay:

I didn't post in that thread either, however, I did indeed have hair goals for 2008. And I must say I've accomplished them! :yep: For me it was to gain full confidence in taking care of my own tresses after removing my weave (that I wore for two years literally non-stop. Hair came down and went up THAT DAY. Luckily my hair still thrived). I wanted independence from my stylist, accomplished to the point where I'm totally DIY with everything including relaxers which was unexpected! My final goal was to reach APL by Dec, which I would have done already had it not been for two trims from my stylist.... You know how that goes. But I am proud to say that I am about 95% sure that I will be there or no more than 1 inch from there by the end of the year. I'm very much on track!

My goals from the original thread:
1. Maintain fullness and health
2. Retain length by moisturizing and protective styling
3. Reach BSL by 5/08
4. Reach MBL by 9/08

I didn't reach any :nono:
I had a setback from too much moisture and very little protein :wallbash:
My hair thinned some from the breakage of being too soft :wallbash:
Retained very little growth :wallbash:

Hopefully my hair thicken back up
Hopefully I reach BSL at my next touch-up in December :yep:

My goals were:
  • Make MBL by May and WL by Christmas :nono: I decided to get a real trim and went back to APL.
  • Thicken up my hair (thinking about going natural) :wallbash: I swear my hair has gotten thinner, especially the sides. I think I'm going to have to start taking vitamins or using essential oils or something. I'm still toying with the idea of going natural...again.
  • Get a good trim to even up my ends and maintain them  I trimmed to APL, and I'm babying my ends by moisturizing and putting castor oil on them every day, and the difference is amazing.
  • Use all natural products (mainly poos and cons) :nono: Maybe once I use up all the stuff under my sink. I just couldn't justify buying more products when I have perfectly good ones waiting to be used.
  • K.I.S.S. and continue to be a DIY’er (the salon has been calling me lately) :yep: K.I.S.S. is the bomb, and so much easier! My hair is thriving.

1. NO MORE TRIMS! (Seriously this time)
2. Consistency!
3. Moisture. Moisture. Moisture.
4. Gentle treatment.

1. No, because I wanted to start with healthy hair, so I cut in January. However, I have not trimmed since.
2. No, I have changed products and revamped my regimen.
3. YES.
4. YES.

As for APL in '08, I'll let you know in two months.

Hang in there, we'll make it this year!

Great thread idea, OP!

My goals for 2008 were:
  • Reach waistlength by July 2008 - Well, I didn't make it , but I did gain more thickness, so I'm happy. Plus, I am on track to reach waistlength by December 2008.
  • After July through remainder of 2008, maintain waistlength by trimming after every relaxer untl ends are thick. - Okay, so after I reach waistlength in December, I will begin doing regular trimming in 2009 for thicker ends. :yep:

Well obviously I missed that thread somehow but I'd like to put in here what my goals were anyway and they are:

1) Grow my hair to APL - Achieved :trophy:.

2) Control my PJism - About 82% accomplished - Those "Buy Nothing" challenges really work:grin:!

3) Do my own hair more often, including wash and treat, coloring, henna'ing, deep conditioning and even relaxing (no trimming myself though) - 90% improvement :superbanana:.

4) Transition from using too many commercial hair products to more natural and organic hair products - only 25% improvement here:blush:. You people and your wonderful reviews of joico and redken and stuff like that:fistshake:. Stop it already:nono:!!! Geesh!!!

5) More protective Styling - 99% improvement here :happydance:.

6) Retain more length by trimming less - 80% improvement here:spinning::yahoo:.

7) Work on getting my hair thicker - thanks to MT/OCT, this is about 50% achieved:woot:

8) Grow my hair to BSL December 2008 - Still pending but very close...to be announced:yep:.

Well I didn’t post on that thread either (I was still a lurker :look:) , but I had a couple of resolutions for this year:

1. Reach APL: Achieved
2. Reach BSL: Claiming after my relaxer in Nov 08
3. No scissors for a year: Achieved
4. Stay consistent with my regiment: Achieved

Now you gotta go start a New Year (2009) Hair Resolutions thread to keep track of them again....:yep:

Definitely!!! :yep:

These were mine:

"My hair resolutions for 2008 are:

1. APL by December.
2. Consistent adherence to my regimen.
3. Increase water intake.
4. Increase frequency of co-washes. "

I will probably be at APL by December, if I'm not now; it's too close to call, honestly, and I don't feel confident claiming it just yet. I've done 2 through 4, although I've backed off on 4 because it seemed like overkill.

My one goal was to reach shoulder length by December. That is definitely going to happen. The back of my hair is already shoulder length; and, it looks like the MT/OCT combo is going to do the trick on the rest of my hair.

Other changes: my hair is much thicker, much healthier, and my thin temples (that I have had since I was nine) are filling in nicely.

THANK YOU LHCF!!!!!
