Ladies,

I'm unclear about how this should be done. Can someone please expound on why this is done, HOW it should be done and which oil works best?

Many thanks!
TonicaG~

I've always used V05 Hot Oil Treatments. You let the little tube sit in hot water for about a minute, or until its warm. Then you open it and massage it into wet hair. Let it sit for about 2 minutes, then rinse and go on to shampooing like you normally would do.

I have not done a hot oil treatment in I don't know how long but when I did do one it was with vo5 oil warmed up and applied to wet hair after I washed for about 10-15 minutes. I recently bought some Evoo and refined organic coconut oil and I will start using these 2 products mixed together for my hot oil treatments. I am not sure if I will use it before or after I wash...I think I may need to do some research to see which way is best.

I coat my hair with jojoba, castor oil, and WGO (different combo of each every time).....then I put on my heating cab for 45 mins

I mix castor oil, amla oil, honey, and a little con (to keep it from being so messy) and warm it for 30 seconds. I apply it to dry hair then rinse.

BUMP!!

Do ya'll hot oil *before* or *after* you shampoo and deep condition?

If you deep condition, do you hot oil *before* or *after*?

I've read where some ladies wet the hair first before adding the oil. What's that all about?

I usually wet my hair before I apply the amla oil. I also clarify before my hot oil treatment so I can have better results, so my hair is wet when I apply the amla.

I hot oil with evoo on deep con days before pre pooing I'll heat up the evoo in the micro message it all through out my hair than i put on my pre poo con (dove intense moist ) put on my shower cap for 1 hour

but now or when i was co washing i noticed the more new growth i got cowashing was not so easy so on days i new i was co washing i would pre poo for and hour and wash it out in the shower versus just doing it in the shower plus the more new growth the longer i had to let the prepoo agents stay on my hair to soften up the new growth

I might start heating the oil before I apply in instead of using a cap...it seems like everyone is doing that with great results

I do hot oil treatments as a part of my pre-poo during a CWC routine. I warm the oil up in a cup, apply it to my dry hair and the apply my conditioner on top. I let it sit on with a plastic cap and then shampoo it all out.
