I have learned my lesson with relaxers ESP. Motions. I don't know why but for some reason their reg strength relaxers are like super duper strength compared to a lot of others. :ohwell:

Oh my gosh I am so sorry! How long since your last relaxer? I used to scab when I got them too often like the relaxer had worn down my immune system or something. I think timing is different for everyone. The same thing happens in the summer when I use nair to much the first month or so I'm awesome but by fall my legs are splotchy and horrible.

WOW! Girl I'm SO sorry this happened to you!! How long did you leave it on? I know a lot of people(mostly family members) that had the same experience with Motions.

Hi Ebony - a few questions

1. - did you inspect your hair before you relaxed? Inspect, meaning is it possible that there was a thinning spot here before you relaxed. (yes some ladies have thinning/bald spots and didn't know it)

2. - did you do a patch test before you relaxed? - I know hardly no one performs these but they do serve a purpose.

3. - have you used Motions before?

4. - How old was the relaxer?

5. - Is there any scabbing in this area?

6. - While rinsing or styling did you notice hair loss? (Where is the hair?) I always inspect the sink, and my comb for hair during and after the relaxer process.

Depending on your answers you may a.- discover where you went wrong, or b.-have a complaint to file against Motions

fudge brownies, this is horrible!! i'm terribly sorry...i wish i could say or do more...hopefully someone will be able to answer your question...

Oh man I am so sorry this has happened to you.

I wish I could offer some suggestions on why this happened but I'm sure some of the relaxed ladies can help you figure this out.

This is why I would be scared to self relax because sometimes you can't see if the relaxer is washed out thoroughly. I am so sorry about your bald spot. It happened to me too at one point in time so I never relax myself anymore. It will grow back; just be careful next time.

I was wondering the same thing, it's possible that area could have already been weak. I'm soooo sorry this happened to you op.

Sorry that happened to your hair... Did you thoroughly rinse the relaxer out of your hair before neutralizing? It's the water that does the neutralizing, the shampoo just brings your hair back to it's proper pH level. Try to do 3 neutralizing shampoos the next time you relax your hair. Perhaps go to a dermatologist to make sure that there isn't any permanent scalp damage. Hope this helps...

Oh no :( Motions seems to cause alot of setbacks, sorry about that spot OP.

Ebonybunny, I have to agree with SkysMommy and bahamababe:(. Motions seems to over time attack the scalp. Motions was the relaxer that brought me to LHCF. It had been working pretty good, then out of nowhere, the last time I used it, my nape felt like it was on fire. I ended up going to the derm for a prescription.

I'm so sorry about your damage. I hope you recover soon.

Wow... I am so sorry this happened to you.......:nono:

I just purchased 2 regular strength relaxers :ohwell: I've always used their mild formula, but this week I make 20 weeks post and plan to relax on Sunday and didn't want underprocessed hair..

it was motions reg strength and i left the neutralizing shampoo on for 5 min the first rinse and 5 the scnd..

wow ... thats a pretty large patch. You didnt feel any burning or notice excessive hair loss when washing out?

thats just not normal ... it actually looks like an eczema (sp) patch or something

Im so sorry

Motions actually took my hair out really bad when I was relaxed. It took my hair a while to recover from that. My mother is a stylist and she put it in for me and I was certain she did everything right but my hair came out in clumps.
