I know we do this every month, but how about the year? What was your biggest hit of 2007? what was your biggest miss of 2007?
And i'm adding two new categories: what was the biggest miss that was really a hit and the biggest hit that turned out to be a miss.

here's mine

1. Biggest miss:
Not educating and preparing myself before switching to lye
from no lye. I went from thick almost collarbone length hair to
thinned out chin length in 3 months.

2. Biggest hit: Joico. I can't say enough. This stuff is pure gold. The
kings ransom.

3. Biggest hit that turned out to be a miss:
Paul Mitchell "The Conditioner ". I used to swear by that stuff. Little did I realize it was the cause of my itchy, irritated scalp. I used it for years and
switched up other products that I thought was the cause
of my irritation.

4. Biggest miss that turned out to be a hit:
Lye relaxer. I thought that it
was too harsh. But I realized I wasn't taking care of my
hair like I should. My hair is shinier, softer, a lot less dry.
I believe that hair relaxed with lye (at least mine) requires
a different kind of care. Now that I know, my hair is thriving.
:)

Hits:
1. Taking my Olive Leaf pill. It's helped me in both skin and hair health.
2. Bunning. It's been the easiest way for me to retain length
3. Aubrey GBP. A nice, light protein conditioner for my hair.

Biggest Misses:

1. Oil Rinsing. It just left my hair gunky and dull. I prefer to add oils as a prepoo or afterwards to seal in moisture.

2. Dominican Conditioners ESPECIALLY Silicon Mix. Not all Dominican conditioners are created equally. I've tried about 6 now and the only ones I can say that really works for me is Miss Key 10 en 1 and the Sunsilk anti-esponja (I know it's not Dominican but they use it on my hair in the Dominican salons. The ones that work are simply amazing. It's just annoying that I have to spend so much money to find the ones that work for me.

Biggest hits of 2007:
Pantene relaxed & natural hair mask
Kenra MC conditioner
Castor oil
low manipuation

Biggest hit that turned out to be a miss:
Oil rinsing- left me with dry, crunchy hair.
Silicon mix- also left dry, crunchy hair.

Biggest Miss that turned out to be a hit:
rollersetting once I finally learned how thanks to Macherie

Biggest hit that turned out to be a miss:

Biggest Hit:

- Sulfur 8- itchy scalp solved!
- Vitamins

Biggest Hit that turned out to be a miss

- Henna- made my hair strong but closed my cuticle a little TOO much, might try a henna glossing instead
- Silk Elements lye relaxer- loved how it didn't burn me and didn't stink but it increased my shedding

Biggest Miss that turned out to be a hit

- Kenra MC- wrote it off as a sucky product a while ago but trying it again has been one of my smarter moves this whole year
-

:yep:...Co-signing...

Adding.....

Aveda Brilliant
Aveda DR
Chi Silk Infusion
Vatika and Shikakai Oils
Africa's Best Leave In Hair Mayo
Garnier Products

Mona,
yep thats an oldie but goodie and I need to restock. I have a hard time choosing between that, giovanni direct, and lacio lacio.

BTW is the aveda brilliant a good line as a whole? I only tried the humidity resistant hair spray which is nice. I notice the brilliant poo and conditioner is cheaper than the others ones.

Biggest miss:
Can't think of any right now. I don't think there really is one other than Henna.

Biggest hit:
-Mizani for fine/color treated hair relaxer
-Mizani Moisturfuse
-ORS Replenishing Conditioner
-Lacio Lacio
-Salerm 21
-Silicon Mix Leave-in
-Design Essentials Moisture Retention Shampoo
-Redken Extreme Rescue Force Fortifying treatment
-Rollersetting
-Washing and deep conditioner every 3-4 days

Biggest hit that turned out to be a miss:
Dominican "deep" conditioners--They were great for slip and short-term moisture but were terrible for long term moisture.

Henna--I haven't henna'd in 6 months and my hair feels better than ever. Henna was way too messy and the "benefits" weren't worth it to me. IMO, relaxed hair and henna (BAQ is what I used) don't mix. It took awhile for me to restore moisture back into my hair. I think it is overrated.

Lacio Lacio..is the ish....
*I actually need to troll around some Dominican neighborhoods over the next few weeks.. :sekret: *

I use the Brilliant conditioner and I have the Universal Styling Cream and the Anti-Humectant pomade as well.

 the Brilliant Conditioner and the USC and Pomade is pretty good, used it mostly during my braidout period when it was warm.

Hits:
Virgin Coconut cream
oil rinisng
avocado stuff
Affirm conditioners
Mizani Hydra/Kerafuse

Misses:
Curly Pudding
Henna
Africa's Best Liquid Mayo

For me:

MISS:
-Aveda conditioners - Just did not live up to the hype for me. :look:
-Motions Moisture Plus - Fake me out moisture.
-Aphogee Hardcore protein - Just too much and drying.
-CON shampoo - still a miss everytime I try to use it :nono:

HIT:
-ABBA products - Moisture Scentsations shampoo & Conditioner, Molasses Purifier Clarifying shampoo
-Qhemet Biologics - Roll over from '06, but still a huge hit for me. Miss my Sidr Tree Butter balm, but I LOVE the Burdock Root Butter Cream. Still loving the Olive Cream Detangler, as well.
-Continued Hit after years of use - Fermodyl 619 leave-in LOVE THIS STUFF. Will not do my hair without it.
-Nasabb's Kelechi oil - WONDERFUL hair oil
-Sunrise Products Lenzi's Request Liquid - WONDERFUL scalp oil. Not sure about the growth rate claims but it is very stimulating for my scalp.
-Using 1 part CHI Silk Infusion adn Fantasia IC Straightening serum for heat protection.
-Neutrogena Clean Replenishing shampoo/conditioner - for simple protein free cleansing and conditioning. Light on the 'cones, too! :yep:
-Limiting 'cones to just once for heat protections and maybe a LITTLE in conditioners. None in my moisturizers or leave-ins.
-Rusk Blowdryers - the CTC Lite and Hyperionic have been a helpful part of my regimen.

LOVE/HATE:
Henna - I love the thickness I get form henna, but I dread the dryness I have gotten from the last few treatments. I think Jamila Henna, although wonderful to rinse out, is not the one for me. I have had better conditioning results from other henna products so I think I will start using those again.

That's it for now.

Biggest miss that turned out to be a hit:
Henna--I haven't henna'd in 6 months and my hair feels better than ever. Henna was way too messy and the "benefits" weren't worth it to me. IMO, relaxed hair and henna (BAQ is what I used) don't mix. It took awhile for me to restore moisture back into my hair. I think it is overrated.

Sounds like this is this really a HIT turned MISS?

You sound like me, though. I love henna, but my last few treatments really dried my hair. I think it was the product I used.

OOps:blush:! You're right! I didn't realize that I didn't put it in the right category. I thought it was great when I first used it but over time, I think it was just too much for my hair.

1. Biggest miss:

Nothing. I had a great year with products.

2. Biggest hit:
Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion - What can I say....simply the best moisture product for my hair, along with Johnson and Johnson Baby Lotion...who knew?

Aveda DR - shampoo, treatment and conditioner is wonderful for my 3b/3c curls.

Aubrey Organics GPB - Why did I wait so long. A wonderful protein/moisture mix conditioner.

Herbal Essence Hello Hydration - it does hydrate very well. Like this for summer time

Garden of Life Coconut Oil - Simply fabulous!!! Luv it, luv it...for inside and out!

3. Biggest hit that turned out to be a miss:
I would have to say CON. Leaves my hair coated...me no likey coated.

4. Biggest miss that turned out to be a hit:

My hits & misses are more about process than product. I think that will make the difference in hair health for me in '08.

Biggest Hits.
Going to my stylist on a regular. This was the BIGGEST hit for me by far. She just knows how to take care of hair. And it makes a difference.

Using a humidifier. All the difference when it comes to hydration.

No oil on my hair. Stays cleaner longer & does not weigh it down. When I do use oils, I use

Jane Carter Nourish & Shine. Great for the ends of the hair. When pinning up.

Taking water out of the hair & using a heated towel for deep conditionining. Conditioner works better.

Biggest misses
Airdrying & wash and go. Broke my hair off.
Bunning. The places that I have the most problems (front, & crown) just can't handle the buns.
Phytospecific relaxer. I see why this could be a winner because I loved the texture of my hair, but it was too hard for me to get moisture back into my hair after using this relaxer.

Biggest hits:
Kenra MC
Lacio Lacio
Giovanni Direct
CON green bottle
all VO5 and Suave conditioners that have silk proteins
Praital Silk Worm Rinse
Mega Tek
Jamila Henna
Caruso Steam Rollers
Chi Silk Infusion

Biggest misses:
J/A/S/O/N Sea Kelp shampoo
Kera Care line except the wrap lotion even tho I one use it once this year
Anything with Petroleum/Mineral oil/Lanolin except rinses that i only leave on for a minute

Biggest Miss:
Silicon Mix - did nothing special for my hair but made it smell perfumey:ohwell:

Biggest Hit:
ORS Paks
Chi Silk Infusion
Aveda Universal Styling Creme
S-curl sealed in with coconut oil during cold winter months
Vatika oil as a pre-poo

1. Biggest miss:
Although I like the conditioning benefits of henna, it is an extremely messy and time consuming entereprise filled with endless rinsing when I use hundreds of grams. In '08 I will stick with henna glosses instead.

2. Biggest hits:
Kenra MC
Lacio Lacio
Rollersetting
Joico K-Pak Reconstruct conditioner
Salerm 21
CHI Infusion.
Africa's Best Liquid Mayo
Qhemet Olive Cream Conditioner & Detangler

3. Biggest hit that turned out to be a miss:

Beyond the Zone Stiff Head: although this is an excellent product for laying down edges, it was causing me to routinely underprocess my hairline I had to stop using it because of the build-up.

4. Biggest miss that turned out to be a hit:
ETA: My hopeless pjism which in fact often leads me to a lot of good products.

Biggest Misses:
*Elucence Moisture Conditioner
*ORS carrot oils, ORS jojoba oils, ORS Replenishing Paks - my hair didn't like these:nono:.
*NISIM shampoo and conditioner along with the treatment extract. I bought these as hair thickeners but they dried out my hair instead - turned out to be a major disappointment. I will have to dilute the shampoo and pre-poo with the condioner just to use it all up.
*Biolage fortifying shampoo and conditioner - too drying
*Biolage hydrating and normalizing shampoos - too drying
*Biolage Hydra-Active hair mask left my hair looking reaaly funny, I can't explain it, but all I can say is YUCK!!

*Aphogee Pro Vitamin leave in conditioner - my hair felt so hard after using this.
*ACV rinses - I couldn't get over the smell of my hair after washing with this. I had to wash it all over again to remove the odor.

Biggest Hits that turned out to be Misses:
*Loreal Mega Moisture - doesn't give me the slip I like so it's just okay to me.
*Elucence Moisture Conditioner - similar to Loreal so I won't be reordering coz Kenra MC rocks.
*ORS Olive Oil (anti frizz) Glossing Polisher
*Biosilk silk therapy - move over coz Chi silk infusion has come to the rescue.
*Cantu Shea Butter leave-in conditioner is a good detangler but leaves my hair very dry. I will use it up by rollersetting my hair but not for air drying.
*Mane and Tail Moisture shampoo and conditioner - I like my F.A.S.T shampoo and conditioner better which also has protein.
Goddess shampoo and conditioner good for hair growth but wayyyy too expensive to repurchase - will stick with my F.A.S.T. line.
*Mizani no lye relaxer for sensitive scalp damaged and thinned my hair really badly.
*Profectiv break free, mega growth, and healthy ends were okay until I tried cantu break cure and grow strong.

1. Biggest miss:
Amla oil, didn't like the smell.

2. Biggest hit: Elasta QP products, my hair loves them and the Recovery Oil Moisturizer is great, I finally found something that keeps my hair super soft and moisturized. Oh and changing to lye relaxer instead of no-lye.

3. Biggest hit that turned out to be a miss:
CON green label, super soft hair but the build-up was crazy, now I use Elasta QP's shampoo for relaxed hair and I get the same super soft hair but without the build-up. Oh and End All I loved this product but I can't get it anymore so...

4. Biggest miss that turned out to be a hit:
Using coconut oil to seal with, at first I used to much, but now that I've found the right amount to use, I love it.

Biggest Hit:
Dry conditioning hair - I will ALWAYS do my DC's with dry hair from now on - esp. the protiens.
Ayurvedic - I love the smells, I love how it leaves my hair feeling, I love that DH loves the smells, and I love the allegded new growth on my hairline, I love that it's so natural and so well tested.
Protective Styling - This is a hit from last year, and I suspect will be a hit all my hair-doing years. I think I've figured out a new one, and it MIGHT just open up my styles on a whole nother level.
Anti-fungal Treatments - no matter what kind I've used, I've seen improvements of one kind or another. I know it's a sign I need to work on my personal health - but it was a huge and welcome eye-opener.

Biggest Maybe:
Oil Rinses - neither me nor my hair are sure about this one - I still have a couple of oils to experiment with. Coconut might make this a hit, but I'm stiiiil not sure.
Lactic Acid Texturizing - just started with this in Dec., definitely needs more exploring.

Biggest Miss:
Supplements - I'm not consistent enough, I'm taking enough other pills as it is now, and I didn't see a significant enough growth increase.
Shampoo - I used it once or twice this year, and deeply and almost instantly regretted it both times - its just too harsh, no matter how 'natural' it is.

Biggest Miss Turned Hit:
Scalp Massages: Initially a miss because it required too much manipulation, now a hit because I've figured out a new style.

Biggest Hit Turned Miss:
Hrm, don't think I have one - I usually try things out for a while, and then they show their miss/hitness before I really fall in love.

Continued hits: Garnier Fructis Curl N' Shine, Hemp Seed Butter and Aussie Sydney Smooth tizz no frizz gel :yep::up:

New hits: Aussie Moist Conditioner and FOTE Aloe Vera Gel :yep::up:

Miss: Tressemme Soft Curl Creme...to perfumey for my taste, VS So Sexy Nourishing Conditioner...something in it makes my hair shed horribly :nono: I'm sure there's more but those the only ones that stands out in my mind right now. :ohwell:

1. Biggest miss: Using Keracare exclusively especially the setting products/gold and hot dryer until I stumbled upon LHCF, thank God!

2. Biggest hits: Chelating, prepooing, dominican products, Alter Ego Garlic Hot oil treatment, salerm 21 B5, Kenra MC, Elucence MB, Pibbs 514 ,ayurvedic herbal infusions,Vatika oil , molasses The ones in blue solved my hair issues and the rest are icing on the cake!!

3. Biggest hit that turned out to be a miss: No real misses. It seems I can't go wrong with products since I chelate regularly.

4. Biggest miss that turned out to be a hit: I hated my Capilo Conditioners until I used them to dc on dry hair. The difference was night and day.

Biggest Miss
Not starting a simple low manipulation regimen sooner
Not using my carrier and essential oils more

Biggest Hit
Low manipulation
prepooing with coconut oil and olive oil
Sealing ends with castor oil
Washing regularly
Dcing w/heat at every wash

Biggest Miss that turned out to be a Hit
Air drying hair loose and not in a bun

Biggest Hit that turned out to be a Miss
Combing and manipulating my hair everyday
Baggy method
Bunning consistently
