Hello folks.

My name is Shannon and I've been lurking a really long time, I signed up the other day and registered today. I'm SO excited to be here you guys really have no idea.

Before I start blabbering the basics.

I'm 29 years old and started my journey to long hair about two years ago after a superme temper tantrum (medications and stress made a bunch of my hair fall out) and making my hubby shave my head. I wore a bright purple crew cut for awhile then got serious about taking good care of my hair.

I stretch relaxers, currently I run about 12 weeks between relaxers sometimes more sometimes less depending on what my hair is doing. I changed my eating, drink a lot of water and take vitamins. I went through a big list of things that worked for other people before I found a regiment that works for me.

My regiment is:
CO only weekly washes. I use shampoo usually once a month or so.
On my scalp I use DooGro oil with a bit of added tea tree oil and a drop or two of almond oil.
I've been wearing protective hair styles. Wigs, ponyfalls etc most of the time.
I use heat on my hair once in a blue moon.
I sleep with my hair up in two mini-tails high on my head.
I use one of those conditioning scarves at night until it falls off. (Wild sleeper here).
About six months ago I got annoyed with my hair being insanely poufy and started once a week putting conditioner that I mixed with a bit of DooGro, a little hair gel into my hair. That has worked wonders for me.
I also use Profectiv (I forget the name, the yellow cream) as needed for dryness.

I just recently got a new cam so I can share photos.

And I have to admit I really suck at styling my hair. I've not had hair this long (to my chin all the way around unstretched/last relaxer was in July) in more than a decade so I'm kind of lost. I have found so many helpful hints here and have to say y'all have some of the best advice/information I've come across.

I look forward to getting to know everyone.

And that's enough I'm just blabbering now. :)

hey gurl welcome. i'm a wild sleeper too so i can never get my scarves to stay on at night. i found some at wal-mart made just for that and they do work!

Welcome. Good regimen. You may want to get yourself a satin pillowcase as a "back-up" when your scarf comes off.
