I am very worried about this, because this is happening more than ever before. Even when I wasn't taking care of my hair, it wasn't this severe. It's like now all I have to do is run my fingers through my hair and the hairs come out with the white bulb with a little bit of extra breakage. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I deep condition once a week, I make sure I'm moisturized everyday. The extra breaking hair could be from the donut bun I've been trying to rock this week, but I'm back to my braids and wig. I just hope the breaking stops, I've even put a plastic barrier between my braids and my wig to hold in my moisture. I plan to knock these new products out of my regimen like the DooGro moisturizer and now that I think about it every since I've started using the DooGro moisturizer my hair has been breaking off. I will be discontinuing this. I guess it makes my hair too greasy, then it breaks. Any suggstions ladies on what I should do?

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I think in order for us to best help you we need to get an idea of what your regimen is (product names included). Then we can offer commentary and advice from there :).

Girl I'm having the same problems, I was thinking the other day....when i wasn't so focus on my hair, I didn't have these problems or atleast I didn't notice them.....I don't know what to do myself. My aunt is a hair stylist and I called her and asked her what could be the problem and she said I might be stress, or stretching my relaxers to long, because all I do is relax every 3 or 4 months.....I don't dye or nothing else.......i do admit, I blow dry and flat iron but I only do that once or twice a month.....so she told me I need to do a protein treatment....so i'mma do that and see what happens....I hope you find something, I do feel you though.......

I thought shedding was normal? If it was little broken pieces I would be more concerned. But are you saying the problem is that you are having more shedding than usual?

Shedding is indeed normal. Could it be that you guys are noticing it more because you're more attentive to your hair than you were when you were not on a serious hair journey? Also OP, you say you've been wearing braids and buns. I'm not sure for how long you're wearing these but even if you wore the do for two days and then undid the do to comb and restyle, you'd have twice the shed hair you are used to because your lack of manipulation meant the shed hair from yesterday was caught in your hair and came out the same day as today's shed hair.

Science says an average loss of 100 hairs (some texts say 150) a day is normal. So unless you're seeing a daily loss of more than that or overall thinning, I say stop fretting or that stress will really lead you to major hair loss.

My regimen is:

Deep condition 1x a week
Mtg 2-3 times a week
Peppermint oil message everynight
Moisturize daily
Braids + wigs and buns occasionally
Just added monistat 7 to my regimen last night and plan to add chlorella

This may be true because the 1st time I really combed my hair (with a detangling comb) was last week.

Oh, well now the shedding makes since. If a person sheds 100-150 hairs per day, and you haven't really combed your hair in one week, you have 700-1,050 hairs to shed. When I used to wait 4-5 days to wash and comb my hair, trust me, I was shedding LOADS of hair. But it's normal.

I ton't totally agree because I was having a lot of shedding myself but as soon as I gave myself a Cassia treatment, my shedding issues STOPPED!!! Maybe you should try that and see?:look:
