Hey, Bunners - Wet or Dry?

For all you bunners out there, are you bunning on dry, straight hair or straight after a wash?

I always flat iron my hair as if I were going to wear it down, and then throw it into a bun. My hair doesn't look presentable when I don't flat iron because I am transitioning.

Right now, I'm bunning on dry hair. I'll cowash at night and let it airdry using the scarf method to hold the NG down. Makes for a fluffier textured bun in the morning.

In the summer, I'll wet bun though.

I usually bun on wet hair. The only time I bun dry hair is if I had a style and it's starting to fall so I decided to pull it back until wash day.

I like the wet bun. If hair is dry, I will spritz with Jane Carter's Nutrient Replenishing LeaveIn, then seal with my butter mix, then bun & tie down with silk scarf. It give me a smooth slick look every time. I am currently 6weeks post on a 12week stretch.

"Wet" bunning. I started doing it when I read Tiffers thread. I "wet" my bun with Hairveda's hydrasoft spritz.

How do you guys "wet bun"? I'm scared to put my hair in a ponytail when it is wet, much less tuck the ends underneath for a bun. This always results in me losing a lot of hair on my ends.

So how are you guys wet bunning without breaking your hair off?

I bun on wet hair and tie a silk scarf around the edges. I take it down at night to moisturize, bun, then tie it back up.

i ponytail set and then put it back in the bun. keeps my ng manageable and my ends smooth at the same time!

Wet bun for me. I smooth my hair back, roll my hair under, so my ends are in the middle and put a satin scrunchie around the whole thing. I don't do a ponytail first and my ends aren't "involved" in the bun or in contact with the scrunchie at all.

I wet bun. If you seal your ends, you shouldn't have any issues, and like soulie said, you can tuck your ends in the middle and avoid them altogether.

Anyway it depends on the weather. I will usually do a wet bun if its not absolutely freezing out.

I tend to rinse my hair in the shower in the morning daily, and bun it then, right before getting out of the shower.

Have you tried the scarf method? Tying it down at night after a wash? Using a great moisturizer like scurl and then bunning it at night really helps instead of using the heat.
