Henna for African Hair

I am researching Henna and looking for a nice color for my hair I have it narrowed down to two colors but I'm curious about the prices.

Who has used Henna for African Hair?

How is it different than the others and why is it more expensive than the others? :perplexed

I thought I read from someone here that said they bought a pack for $1.50.

What do you recommend?

What is your experience?

I also would like to know if you need to add more powers to actually obtain the lighter colors on black hair?

I ordered the henna for african hair from Mehandi.

I liked it a lot. I guess it's more expensive cause they include as much indigo as you need to get the black or dark brown color that you want according to your hair length.

You may be able to get henna cheaper from a local supplier but you really don't know what it is and how long it's been sitting on the shelf.

It can be a little pricey to buy from Mehandi or the other suppliers but I trust them more to have fresh products and natural prods that don't have extra additives.

Oh, you can't really get a lighter color on black hair from natural additive free henna. Henna alone will give you a deep red color that most likely will show up in the sun. It doesn't lighten it adds a redddish hue .

I purchased the Henna for African Hair as well, although I can't compare it to other brands since this is my first time using Henna.

I decided to go with Mehandi.com because so many people here on the forum have used this company with good reviews. Also, I liked the pre-packed Henna & Indigo bundle which included instructions as well as gloves.

I was a little nervous about using Henna so I wanted to make sure I purchased it from a good source.

It probably costs a lil' more because it is more finely sifted so that the grains to not get stuck in out textured hair and is easier to wash out.

If you are going to get it from Mehandi, just get the Body Art Quality 3 Henna from Yemen.I use it and it rinses out just fine, and has a high dye content. All that "fine sift" crap is just hype. you want your henna more finely sifted, sift it yourself:grin:.

I am so on the fence about henna, I know it gives great results but I'm holding out because I may want to color or lighten my hair one day now that it's natural. I just can't make a commitment this time. If I were to decide I would definate go with the choice above
