Where do you all buy your hemp seed oil?
Before I go out and purchase...does hemp seed oil have a strong scent?

The only thing that could make hemp seed oil better is if it gave you a buzz. It's a part of my ceramide mix (wheat germ oil, hemp seed oil, kukui nut oil and sunflower oil) that I add to my hair dressings and conditioners.
I've been using it for about a month now and I really like it. I've been using other ceramide oils, but hemp seed is my favorite. I use it in everything now: pre-poo treatments, sealing and mixed in DC's.
Echoing Yoshi3329, here are the benefits I've found:
Hair holds moisture longer
Softer hair
Improved elasticity
Easier detangling
Increased natural sheen
I also think that its better protects my hair from the sun/heat. I live in a very hot place and I'm in the sun quite a bit, sometimes when I would go to wash my hair there was a hint of burnt hair smell. Like when using a pressing comb (this would have to be from the sun because I don't use heat at all now). Since incorpaorating ceramide oils, I no longer have that scent when I wet my hair.
I got mine from Whole Foods
What brand of hemp oil do you all use? I saw this Nutiva brand today, but wasn't sure if this is the right one. It looks like its more for eating.

I personally have liked WGO better than hempseed, but my WGO has EVOO mixed in it. I need to start usig my hempseed again.
But I use hempseed butter and like that.

I've heard that food grade oils are best because if they good enough to be ingested they are safe to be used topically. I got my oil on the isle with the rest of the cooking oils (grapeseed, olive.. and the rest)
Food grade is fine - in fact preferred. I just got mine from whole foods today - it's in the fridge and I'm too lazy to go and look for the brand but it but was with the other oils in the baking aisle - this is where I got my sunflower seed oil as well. I've had great results from the sunflower oil but I thought I'd kick it up a notch by adding hemp oil. I did try to find wheat germ oil first but none of the stores in my area carry it and since I'd rather not deal with ordering oil in this hot weather I prefer to work with what's available locally.
Just bought some yesterday and used it to seal this morning. I mixed it with some coconut oil. It's the best oil I have used so far. I thought my hair didn't really care for oils, obviously I've been using the wrong ones!
The texture of my natural hair is just so much nicer - hard to describe - bouncier? sleeker? moisturized. This will definitely become a staple from now on.
Just a thought ...I have 3b/3c/4a fine hair and I am noticing that alot of the ladies (not all) here that like it have the same type of hair. The 4a/4b thicker haired ladies tend to like wheat germ oil better as it is heavier (like castor oil) I won't try wheat germ oil as I have curbed my PJism and I'm quite happy with the Hempseed but MissJae I would say try the wheat germ oil too.
Co-signing...I felt results after the first use...My 4ab (fine, medium and a small amount or course strands) likes both. I think I like the hempseed a little more as it smooths a little better. The feeling I get is amazing.
