Hello Ladies,

I've been hanging around for about a year now. Trying to figure out how my wonderful head of hair went to hell in a hay basket. I live in Hawaii and it's very limited on fresh, up to date stylist. So after settling on a spot I felt i could deal with considering, I realized 2 yrs later she had been chewing off my hair.

I had just had twins when I went to the salon and over a 2 year period my hair became thin, broke off easily, dry, the whole 9. she made excuse after excuse as to why my hair was in this condition, blamed it on the twins and my hormones and i was buying the whole idea, but i kept thinking their two now, is this possible!! she even try to say it was all in my head, well i did a hair analysis and comes to find out my hair was overprocessed. (uggghhh)

of course she didn't own up to the damage, so i did what i've been curious about for the longest time, i cut it all off. (12 weeks new growth)

Problem now is i'm not too sure what to do. I believe i still have some perm left on my ends, but once i cut it, i could see and feel the thickness was alway there, my permed hair had low elasticity, but maybe i'm too excited, but i don't see this wonderful curl pattern that i've seen in other threads.

At this point what should i be doing other than washing and conditioning the hair? i'm excited about my journey but i don't have a clue. Also if anyone has an idea of what hair type i have that would be nice.

Thanks for listening. The one picture i included was when my hair was in top quality right before i started going to the stylist, I don't have the heart to show how down hill it went. But any advice on hair type and how to care for my new natural hair would be appreciated.

Looks like a beautiful 4-ish to me!

Keep your regimen simple. You can do a daily co-wash (i.e. Aussie Moist), following up with a small amount of aloe vera gel for moisture and to get your curls to pop! You should also try oils like castor oil, extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil. :lick:

I'm sure other ladies will chime-in with some really great options...just keep it simple and enjoy your new hair!

I agree with MCMLXXII - keep it simple.
You may want to try Scurl moisurizing spray as a leave in conditioner which is very moisurizing on the hair & it helped my hair grow when i had to cut it low.
Your hair looks nice & soft BTW!

Hey Lady!

You look like a 4a/b, I would say try co-washing to help with moisture. I always use castor oil on my ends to seal. If you use a shampoo try something that isn't too drying.

Here's a link I saved, from when one of our member's asked for advice when she did a BC.

This one is more about growing out your hair after a BC and how long it might take, it includes some product suggestions as well.

Good Luck!

Since you live somewhere nice and warm I would say co-wash co-wash co-wash! At least that is what I would do... follow up with some coconut oil and I'd be on my merry way! Good luck and you're in the right spot to get great info!

I agree w/ everyone else--KEEP IT SIMPLE and LISTEN TO YOUR HAIR!

It will tell you what it likes & what it doesn't like, what it needs & what it doesn't need, etc.

HHG!
