***HELP! Stuck at BSL!***

Hey ladies, so i have been stuck at BSL for a year now and its getting soooo frustrating! From my starting point I should have hair touching my butt by now but im still at the same old length. I feel like the state of my dry hair isnt improving even with d/c, moisture/seal, aphogee, no direct heat.

So today I decided to try something a little different with my regimen. Well i usually use one of these. I put my hair in a clip with the ends on the top of my head and put it directly on my head.

But today I put on my d/c then tied on a plastic grocery bag then put on my satin bonnet and then put the drier on my hair. I sat for 1 hr and my hair felt great...it was still soft and damp.

when i would put the cap directly on my head, my hair would almost be completely dry after 15mins. Could this be a reason for my breakage?

I hope that this is the reason for me not progressing in my hair journey...

I think most, if not all of us dc with something on our heads. Whether it's a shower cap, saran wrap or a plastic bag, you have to have something on your head to keep it moist and trap the heat in :yep:

What's your regimen?

I have a fairly simple regimen

D/C about every 3 days with UBH or garnier 3 min masque
moisturize with UBH moist
seal- amla or coconut oil
wear my hair in buns

If I get under the dry I always do it with something a bag on. Have you looked into your DCs? Are the ingredients giving you enough moisture? Maybe it's time for a change.

I always use a plastic cap when I DC.

How often do you trim?

Trimming too much could also hold you back. If your ends are not split then there is no need to trim. If you are looking to keep your hair even then you are not looking to have long hair.

Anubis I feel the exact same way that you do. My hair just does what it wants to do no matter what I do, take, etc. At times my hair doesn't seem to grow at all, then out of nowhere I'll get a growth spurt. Then it stops growing again and I get afraid thinking that I may be at terminal length. Then it starts growing "just a little bit longer." It seems like I've been at BSL for 4 to 6 months with only 1/8" of growth!!!!! grrrrrrr!! I eat very healthy, drink lots of water, exercise, wash my hair frequently/condition, take vitamins/supplements/herbs, etc. and yet my hair just continues to do what it wants to do. What makes me even madder is when I see some of my co-workers who say that they are going to be cutting their hair because it keeps growing too fast!!! What the f-------!!! That's just not fair. Sorry, I had to vent. Thanks for starting this thread...

I believe the only way you can properly DC is with some type of plastic cap on it. If you think about it, DCing without the cap is like blow drying your hair with conditioner in it.

Slightly off topic- I have that hood attachment. Does it fly off your head if you aren't careful too?

Yes, definitely bag or wrap your hair to dc. The dryer is just to heat the condish help your hair utilize it.

I bought one and only used it once because it kept flying off my head.

I'm trying to break past the BSL hump too. My hair grows past BSL, but I had to get a trim after not getting one for 4 months. I'm now protective styling (wearing buns) 24/7, so I hope to at least reach my MBL goal by the end of the summer.

Any other advice for ways to bust the BSL plateau?

I am having the same problem getting to wl. It is taking too long to reach full wl. My advice to you is take your time, wear protective styles, and wear a plastic cap while DCing.

It's taking me forever, too. Out of curiosity, how tall are you? I think it's taking me forever because I'm pretty tall and my neck is so darn long.

my question is how often you work out and do you take multivitamins? Your issue is probably retention; however, you will notice faster growth by working out, taking a good multi-vitamin, and increasing your lean protein intake.

yeah it does fly off sometimes but after you get used to it, its a good heat cap. I no longer have that trouble anymore. You just cant move around in it too much or it will fly off your head or slip off the dryer.

I am 5'3 and its frustrating because i should be at my goal by now.....your hair is soooo pretty and shiny

I dont work out...too busy with my babies but i do go outside and be active...like play basketball with DH

I also take a prenatal vitamin daily but just started 2 weeks ago

heyyyy i thought i was the only one in the world that has this, i call it my fibbs, LOL...anyway, i use it for rollersetting only i never thought about it contributing to breakage or anything so i'm not sure.

i have tried to use it for deep conditioning, but like some others have mentioned its hard to stay on my head, but if u do i would definitely use a cap or something for it because it certainly can get HOT!

now that i think of it my ends are getting frizzy and im sure it because i pile my ends on the top of my head then put the bonnet on directly! Im shocked im not bald by now!

I wish I had your problem. I just need to get to SL level all over to make my first goal.:nono: My nape is growing so fast, the rest of my hair can't keep up with it.:ohwell:

that might be part of the reason, especially if u're not using a plastic cap...i know mine fits really snug on my head but then again i usually have rollers on....

i'm about to use mine in a few  girl, don't give me a reason to go out and buy me a real PIBBS......:scratchch
