HELP PUH-LEEZ! Natural Type 4 Hair Bun w/Added Hair

I am going to take my crochet braids out this week. I have been dreaming of playing in my hair. I am mostly type 4a with some 3c and maybe some 4b. I want to rock a bun but my hair won't look full enough to just use it (almost APL I think). I want to add some bulk hair (with some texture). Anyone have tips on how to pull my hair back in ponytail then add hair to make my own bun? I've been on YouTube but have not seen any videos for making a bun .

I need to wear a bun for a while (by special request) but it must look polished and sleek (natural though). I must admit, I still don't know how to pull it into a neat ponytail but I'll work on that! Please help.

*I braided afro braid hair into my real hair (middle section only). I left the perimeter out.

There are more pics/explanations in the fotki. (2008, Months 3-4 natural.) I left it as a ponytail, but you can bun it up. HTH!

I wonder if the freetress water wave bulk hair will work. Maybe if it's combed a little to make it poofy and then bobbie pin it around your bun.

Im touched you thought about me . But yea OP, that is like the easiest way i can think of for you to bun your hair because i was having the exact same issue as you. I could find any naturals that bun with hair added so i made my own way..

I wear a bun often. I slick my hair back with Olive oil ecostyler and tie it down with a scarf. I then take a/b half a bag of kanekalon hair and add it to my ponytail. You add it just like you are doing braids, fold the hair over and use your hair as the third piece. Use bobby pins as you twist the braid into a bun. It is a very beautiful look. I particularly like to use the kinky kanekalon hair. I put a small flower on the side of the bun and always get tons of compliments.

This one is a life (time) saver for me! I got this from an old LHCF post. I can't remember who the poster was, but she's awesome.

1. I take a bag of kankelon braid hair, place it on a doorknob so that there's an equal amount of hair hanging on the left and right sides of the knob.
2. Then make one braid using both sides that are hanging, making sure to leave a loop in the hair where it's hanging from the knob.
3. Secure the bottom of the braid.
4. Slip it from the doorknob.
5. Put your hair (that's already in a little bun or ponytail) through the kankelon loop, secure with pins, then wrap the braid around it. Secure with pins.

This is great to cover a baggy too.

You can use kanekalon braiding hair or use weave hair and just pin it around into a bun. If you buy some curly hair from the BSS and brush it out it will look kinky.

I use my spritz of distilled water, evoo, glycerine, and aloe vera to moisturize/wet my hair and then apply aloe vera gel or ecostyler/aloe vera to the edges. Finally, I tie my hair down with a scarf for 15 minutes and my hair and edges will stay down the whole day.

Recently, I have been using Long Aid curl activator gel (green writing) very sparingly on my new growth and it has made my new growth extremely moisturized.

Thanks. Yep. At the time, my real hair was too short to put in a ponytail, so I used the black scarf to make the ponytail while laying down the edges. Since your hair is longer, then you could do without the scarf.

I used to do my buns like this when I was a teenager. I haven't done it in a while because the tracks are easier for me. I usually use a little piece of of hair and wrap it around.
