Help! Need tips for hair growth.

I am relatively new to LCHF. I have been trying to find a new stylist for the last couple of months. My previous stylist has taken very good care of my hair but I would spend anywhere from 6-8 hours in her salon. I work full time and I am a full-time student in my last year of completing my B.S. Although, I want my hair to be long and healthy, I can not afford to give up that much of my time to get my hair done. Thus leading to me experimenting with other stylists over the last couple of months. My experimenting has lead to breakage. So the woman I went to today, said that I was in need of a trim to even out the breakage. Well what I ended up with was a CUT!!!!!!

I was mid-back length when I walked in today, and left there with my hair at the back of my neck!!!!!!!! :wallbash: I explained carefully what I wanted done. I explained that I wanted no more than an inch taken off! I was so hurt. I cried. I did not realize how attached I was to my hair. My husband also is not happy!

So, if you ladies could offer me any tips on how to speed up the hair growth process, I would greatly appreciate it. Any regimens, supplements, anything? Also, about how long should I expect it to take to get back to my original length?

So sooorry! I would had to act really foolish in there. She would have been jobless before I took some $$$$ outta my pocket for that mess. :wallbash: Bless your heart....MBL to neck! :blush:Has you hair always been pretty long? Is it hereditary or were you short-haired at one time?

My hair grows very well unless I do something stupid to it. I was shoulder length for several years. I thought my hair wouldn't grow past that until I realized my stylist was keeping my hair at that length. I relocated to NC and found a stylist who believes in promoting hair growth. She wants her clients to maintain length. But I would spend 8 hours with her. I am not sure if it is hereditary or not. I have one sister who's hair is the same length as mine was, but the other two have short fine hair.

I see! So basically your hair thrived from care by a 'length-friendly' stylist. :yep: Then I would suggest that you follow a basic regimen.

Shampoo hair 2x per week with a moisturizing shampoo (Cream of Nature, Elucence, Keracare Hydrating, etc)

Deep conditioning after each wash for 20-30 minutes with heat. Alternate moisture with protein. (Moisture= Keracare Humecto, Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Replenshing Pack, Elasta QP Intense. Protein= Aphogee 2 minute keratin, Jherri Redding Natural Protein, At One Reconstructor, Queen Helene Super Cholesterol)

Apply a leave-in (African Royale Daily Doctor, Giovanni Direct, 911 cream or liquid, Infusium, Neutragena Triple Silk)

Rollerset hair or style as usual

Moisturize hair and ends daily or as needed(may be done 2x per day)

Keep hair from rubbing against clothing by styling it with 'protective' styles. This is vital when growing from short to shoulder. After hair is past shoulders, it may be done less.

Hope this helps! HHG!:yep:

In addition to this:

  • have a balanced diet, drink lots of water
  • exercise regularly
  • massage your scalp
  • get enough sleep

OMG MsJuly75!
My first impulse is to just give you a hug .:bighug: The ladies here thus far have given you great advice. I had a neck length haircut and when I was ready to grow it out the best thing I could do for it was protective styles. I know it's hard but learn to love that length and know that you are beautiful with it! There are also so many styles that were beautiful on me with neck length hair and at BSL not so much. Try to find a style that will make you  and your DH :lick: and follow the advice given by the ladies. Since your hair grows fast your'e probably closer to your goal then you think!

Thanks you ladies for ALL the advice. I will definitely try the regimen that "locabouthair" recommended as well as trying some protective styles. Any suggestions for protective styles? I lost my camera, so that's why no pics. But I think I can convince my husband to get me a new one, as a feel better about my hair gift. I will post updates as soon as I can. Didirose, thanks for the pick me up. I know that I can still work my SEXY with long or short hair!!!!:gorgeous:
