Help my hair is breaking in the middle!

Please I really need some advic what to do. Last year I did a 12 month stretch. When I finally relaxed my hair, my stylist did not relax all the new growth. My relaxer was in December '07. End of Jan, I braided my hair and now I took them out a week ago. Now I've noticed that my hair is breaking mostly in the middle. I thought it was my ends, but then I saw it was coming mainly from the middle. I am sooo sad.. I had just gotten quite a bit of lenght. Do I really have to cut it off or is there some protein treatment that I can try to save it .

Thanks so much in advance for your answer. I am here in Germany and where I am there are no good stylist at all.. I just get someone to put in the relaxer for me. I 've gotten so many good tips on this board. I think I may have to learn to self relax. Please do give me some advice what I should do with my hair. Thanks in advance! Attached a pic I took yesterday after washing, rollersetting and curing the ends.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I'm 12 weeks post and noticed the same type of breakage today. I believe my breakage may have come from bunning and overprocessing, so I plan to lay off the buns and stretch for another few weeks. I had a trim last week and so far I've noticed a lot less hairs when I do comb. Sorry I'm not much help.... but your definitely not alone.

My stylist just pointed this out to me today.I have a small patch of breakage in the middle of my hair. I started out stretching 12 weeks then cut down to 8 weeks and just touching up at 6 weeks. This part of my hair grows the fastest and is also coarse, and I believe the demarcation is what is causing breakage

Oh that could be the thing as well..I have been wearing a ponytail most of the time under a halfwig and that with the long stretch could be causing the problem. Experienced folks out there..any tips to help us three..:perplexed..thanks ladies!

What part of Germany are you in? When I lived there I had THE BEST haircare specialist I've had in a long time. If you're in Hessen, PM me for her info.

I stretched for 9 weeks, and had extreme breakage in the middle back of my head. Lucky, my hair is so thick i am able to camoflauge, i think it was because of stretching.

It could be due to not enuff moisture in that area. i don't know how u were moisturizing with braids in...but if by chance u skipped those sections, or u may not have given it enuff attention. So that area wasn't as moisturized as other sections of ur hair. If that dryness continued to happen on a constant basis, then ultimately when u do things like a ponytail, or bun, or even when u just sleep (considering sleeping on ur back) it can cause breakage.

well atleast that was the reason my middle section was breaking off:ohwell:

yes that could be it. I am going to try moisturising more and see if that helps. Thanks a lot!
