What products are you using from start to finish, and is your stylist using a no lye relaxer and how long have you been using them.

How often are you washing, conditioning, and flat ironing? Are you cowashing, DCing, both? How often are you getting touch ups? Is your stylist just touching up the new growth or going over previously relaxed hair?

Well I use creme of nature shampoo, soft sheen carson shampoo breakage defense and the breakage defense conditioner, i was using the olive oil relaxer (kit) but I started to go to the salon and i started using the mizani relaxer the olive oil relaxer didnt work well with my hair. At first I was perming my own hair then went to the salon got most of my hair cut cause I jacked it up and then that is when I went to the mizani perm.

I only have been using the mizani for a little while I get a relaxer every 2 months. I wash, condition, blow dry, flat iron every week. I dont deep condition. I dont cowash and she just touches the new growth

Have you tried the Ateyaaa technique? Look at her original Aphogee regimen on You tube. It is great for getting that Swang.

I can say from experience that CON shampoo is not for everyone. When i use it my hair is stiff and hard. I've also used the breakage defense and my hair got hard. I would try water based leave-ins with Silk protein. I think the stuff you're using is too heavy

1. You need to start DCing.

2. You have a very protein rich regimen and need to incorporate more moisture. A protein shampoo and conditioner, without a DC is a recipe for hair stiffness and breakage.

3. You may benefit from stretching your relaxers to every 10-12 weeks, protective styling, and daily moisturizing and sealing until your hair starts to recover and exhibit more signs of health.

It sounds like you use alot of heat, and the problem with heat is that it can be a double-edged sword. To a point, it can give you soft swingy hair. But if you overuse it, it can make your hair stiff...believe me, I know. When I was using my curling iron really often, I could make my head look like:

with no holding product. :lachen:

So my advice to you would be to put down the heat. No more blow-drying, no more flat ironing. I think that by using less heat, and raising the moisture level of your hair through intensive deep conditioning treatments and daily moisturizing, you'll see softer, more pliable, and most importantly, healthier hair over time.
If you want to wear your hair straight, then try rollersetting and air-drying, or drying under a hood dryer.

Or you could just experiment with different looks, instead of just wearing it pin-straight all the time. I know you like it straight...I too enjoy some straight swangy hair every now and again. But our hair just wasn't meant to be that straight all the time. And when we try to force it to be that way, it fights back. So don't be afraid of texture and non-bone straightness! Try air drying your hair and then pin-curling it for bump, or wearing braidouts, twistouts, or bantu-knot outs. These methods also have the added benefit of making your hair look and feel fuller. I have fine and sparse hair, and when I want it to look fuller, I rollerset it and air dry. Bam, it's like double the follicles. :yep:

And finally, I'd encourage you to try to space your relaxers further apart. Even if your stylist is only doing new growth, you're still exposing your scalp and hair to a caustic and dangerous chemical. It stands to reason that if you're doing that less often, it'll be healthier for your hair and scalp in the long run.

I am really thinking it is at least in part a moisture problem, especially since you said you don't DC and you did not mention moisturizing your hair daily. Get a good (NOTE: price does not necessarily equal quality) DC and use it at LEAST once a week for 6 weeks. Twice a week would be better, since you are just starting out. In addition, moisturize and seal your hair at LEAST once a day. Again, twice a day would be better. With the other tips from these brilliant ladies (i.e. stretching your relaxer, trying low- or no-heat styles), you should see a turnaround FAST. Report back then to let us know how it's going -- if you love what you see, keep doing it!

This does not mean you have to buy ALL NEW hair supplies. This is where lots of newbies get into trouble....buying any and everything with a good review. You only need one shampoo, one good DC, a leave-in, one good moisturizer, and something to seal with. I would recommend these:

Deep Conditioner
ORS Replenishing Conditioner -- protein
Silk Elements MegaSilk Moisturizing Treatment -- moisture
Ion Effective Care Treatment -- moisture/protein
Lustrasilk Cholesterol (shea butter kind) -- moisture

Moisturizer
ORS Olive Oil Moisturizing Lotion

Oil/Serum (for Sealing)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Jojoba Oil
Grapeseed Oil
Castor Oil
CHI Silk Infusion

I 2nd choasbutterfly, I wanted my hair straight all the time too until i started experimenting with other styles like braid outs, flexi rods, wet bunning (well in my case semi wet bunning... or w/e) they are a lot of fun... and you don't need lots of flowing mythical hair to make them look great. I looked up a lot of tutorials on youtube. My new thing now is braid out + flexi rods... amazing volume!

I think you really should look in to the "scarf method" and air drying. The scarf method will help your hair lay down, and air drying will reduce the amount of damage/and or fly aways you get from heat styling

Sorry I can give you better explanation I horrrible at explaining things .. but youtube it!

I am going to start dc with Africans organics and moisturizing and sealing wit wave nouveau and caster oil. I washed my hair last night then dc with africans organic used ntm slik touch, elasta qp leave in h2, aphogee pro vitamin leave in conditioner and let my hair air dry in a wrap and my hair was matted up when it dried :nono::nono::sad: so I took some glycerine and mixed it with water and sprayed my hair with it and bunned it. Hopefully it will look better when it dries. If not how do I air dry my hair with out it matting up on me. I must say my hair feels a little better since I didnt blow dry well the part that wasnt stuck to my head:lachen:
