Have you used a dating site to meet a man?

Met current DH on Black People Meet; very happily married! Met my first husand through close mutual friends; he was a complete loser! I had my guard up and was very selective and cautious when I was dating online and I "vetted" my current DH myself. I didn't have my guard up when introduced to my first husband and didn't really "vet" him because I felt the close mutual friends who introduced us were vouching for his character. Bad move on my part.

Moral of my personal story: Throughly vet any potential mate for yourself regardless of how you meet him.

So true...you have to thoroughly vet for yourself :yep:.

Wait, be positive, keep believing, and all will surely be yours. Sent from my iPhone using LHCF

Can someone break down what you mean by throughly vetting someone.....surely that means just asking the right questions and following your gut instinct.

Yes, definitely asking the "right" questions, following your gut and not just taking anything at face-value. I had, for lack of a better term, "intrusive" conversations with DH about his ex-wife, his ex-girlfriends, his finances, his job performance, his health, his credit rating, his spirituality, his relationships with family and just about anything else I could think of to satisfy my own comfort level that he was someone worthy of truly getting to know and entering into a committed relationship with. Likewise, I welcomed him asking me the same kinds of questions and I gave him honest answers. That approach might not be right for everyone, but it was for me.

I met my fromer boyfriend on POF last year. He was a wonderful guy and we dated for a little more than a year. It didn't work out because the distance became a bit too much, but I would use POF again. I think the reason why POF may have more "chaff" than "wheat" is because it is free. When a dating site requires a fee I believe that may screen out potential "undesireables" who randomly carouse the internet jmho. By the way, I completely agree with what MissLawyerLady said.

i met my first love on craigslist. we were together for about a year. ive met a lot of other great guys online, but the vetting process can be exhausting.
