Have we found the goldmine to hair 'skrength' and growth...

This is me--if it doesn't come already "finished" in a bottle, I'm hesitant to try it--plus, I worry about the time committment of all the research, mixing, etc., as it is . . .I've just started deep conditioning--that added to my normal routine (rollersetting and sitting under the dryer), it already seems like it takes forever. But--I admit I'm curious.

Well, I just purchased the starter packs for washing and conditioning the hair from stinastina and she has them prepared for you already for only $5.99 :yep:

Keeping it simple and mixing the powders with water works really well for me and has reduced breakage to virtually nothing. I love Indian hair care products.

Just one more question, when you make your paste do you apply it all over the hair and scalp? and how long do you let it sit for? I just ordered the cleansing pack and I have plenty of conditiners I need to use up.

Thanks Ladies!

I made a Henna/Shikaiki/Amla rinse this weekend for me and my daughter. Our hair came out do lush and soft.

My steps were:

Night before:

applied heated oil to scalp and hair
Brewed H.S.A (see above) in coffee pot
(made enough for a few washes, once cooled put in a old milk jug)
Added oil to "tea"

Next morning

Poured tea over our hair and let sit about 10 mins
Rinsed w/ warm water
(only on my hair, not my daughters: I oil rinsed w/ Omega)
Deep Conditioned using a moisturizing conditioner only for 30 mins
Rinsed warm and final rinse Cold water
Applied moisturizine spritz I concocoted (glycerin, water, Aloe, and little bit of Amla Oil)
Applied Giovanni Leavein conditioner
Sealed w/ OMEGA & Coconut oil
Let air dry w/ Silk scarf.

I am in LOVE w/ my hair today. It is so very soft and moisturized, it feels damp but its not...(if that makes sense). Not greasy or oily, not tangled. I will be using this process for about a month on my daughters hair, because right now we are are trying to revive her hair. This is a keeper for her so far.

Omega oil is a mix of Canola, Olive, and Soy. I get it from Walmart in the oil section. It has Omega 3 6 9. I love it.

Anyone else with simple directions with minimum mixing, brewing, etc?

MsCocoface . . . thank you for the great idea of putting the powder in a tea bag, securing the tea bag and boiling. This idea is just about gold, becuz I knew I wouldn't be straining nuthin'. And thanks for the idea of making a batch and storing it.

Tigget - Thanks for listing out the reasonable steps you used!!!

too much for me. i ordered the dabur vatika oil and i cant wait for it to get here. i will pre poo with it and use it on my scalp but im not even thinking of using no powders.

are the oils enough to get good results or would that be just a waste of time without the powders?

A lot of ladies make the tea, I actually use the paste of Amla and Shikakai and I like it. Just make sure your powders aren't lumpy. My first order of powders were pretty expensive and I was cheap the second time around and ended up with lumps that I had to strain and pound out. YOUR POWDERS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LUMPY! I would've never known this......some ladies think they are supposed to be this way.

I think the key is prepooing with the oils first, that is a must. They stink, but they are heavenly, especially the Amla!

The oils are nourishing and are a great practice to incorporate with any regimen, but I think the powders really help with strengthening.

Actually, the ayurvedic process is quite easy. It is just a matter of mixing the powders correctly, applying it to the scalp, let it sit for a few minutes an then wash out. Just be careful not to manipulate the hair whilst washing the grit out and be patient. It takes a while to wash out all of the grit. However, I feel it is well worth it because my hair feels so much stronger as a result. After the wash, my hair is stiff but then I mix pure Hibiscus powder in with any 100% natural conditioner that I wish and leave that in for 30 to 45 minutes with a plastic cap. After I wash that out, my hair is soooooooo soft. I love it. :yep: Also, remember to let oils such as shikakai or amla sit on your hair for a while before you wash with the powders. This part is a must.

The Ayurvedic process is a goldmine!!!! Hopefully, I can successfully transition from a perm to 100% natural.

I agree the paste shd not be lumpy. What I noticed after making the tea was the smooth paste in the filter. So actually when I do my next Hedigo treatment I will use my coffee maker to make my paste....it will have time to cool cause I let it sit for hours to release the color. I will use the tea for mid-week rinse.
