A friend of mine, who had hair longer than mine.. shaved hers off for £50 (I've realised most users here are from America.. so that's equivalent to 100 dollars, I think lol)

She cried afterwards... but 2yrs later she has her hair length back lol.

In fact, I have a few friends who have done this just for FUN! I don't really understand what is so fun about that, but hey different strokes for different folks. However, they all have claimed that their hair grew back thicker, fuller and just better...

I've been tempted, but then reality hits me. Would I be able to walk around with no hair for a year lol. I'm not sure..

How about you ladies?

Yes I have shaved my head before with Bleach blonde at the top and LOVED IT!! I can relate to your friends. All I had to do was get up and go.
I didn't walk around bald for a year though, it grew back.
I decided to try something new and its not like it's forever so why not??
It was hard trying to get someone to shave my hair in cosmetology school because the students were scared to do it and thought I was crazy.
I finally talked someone into doing it and after 20 minutes of her trying to convince me "Your hair is so beautiful, once its gone its gone" she finally started.
If you plan on getting a shaved head, make sure it is

-something you are comfortable and confident with
-You're accustomed to withstand rocking an uncommon look.
-Adapt to the people who "dont approve of your look."

So what has you pondering about rocking a shaved head?

Maybe you should start off slow with a haircut first and then go form there, because going from long hair to bald is a HUGE step, you should be prepared for.

I did it, but it wasn't for fun, lol. It was only impatience and the desire to go natural. My hair grew back fast..wasn't like I was running around bald-headed for an entire year!:lachen:

ahaha.. I know you wouldn't be bald for an entire year - it seemed that long because my friend would always ask me ''Has it grown? do you see a difference''

I actually thought it was quite admirable because it takes a lot of confidence to do that and I was considering it but she convinced me not to, saying she regretted it. But once in a blue moon.... I do think about it. I've picked up scissors and have wanted to make that cut... but like 'Donrosscollection'' pointed out, people think your 'crazy' lol and try to talk you out of it.

So I thought I'd make this thread, and see how other people felt about it.

I have twice. The second time I did it, I knew what to expect so it was easier. Both times were to go natural. I don't know if I would do it again, but my hair did grow back healthy and about the same thickness I had before I was relaxed.

I did and it was refreshing took some clippers and went at the head. Had a fresh lowcut ceaser. till this day alot of my friends still tell me they loved it when my hair was short...

I'd do it if I were as thin as I was before kids. I think it's sexy with some big earrings and FABULOUS makeup. Just make sure to do it in the spring time. This way your head doesn't freeze and you have enough hair by winter LOL

I have several times. Last time was June 2009. Mostly due to not being happy with my hair.

i shaved because i wanted to; always wanted to but no one liked the idea. but i was tired of dealing with my hair and wanted a change.

i shaved in late april:

and it's even thicker now. :nono: i wish i could cut/color my hair and tell it to not grow for a few weeks.

idk if i will cut again. i love the length i'm at now, but i want long hair to play in.

I have about 3-4 times I forget, and I actually loved it I colored it blonde and Auburn, was really cute :D

I got my mom to shave my hair off for free back when I was in high school. :)
I was sick of dealing with my hair at that point and also wanted something different. There was no need to worry about styling it and I could actually use the dime size recommended amount of product on my hair with no problem. Good times.
The only thing I didn't care for is having to be decked out all the time... I mean, I like dressing up but not all the time. Other than that it was great.
After that I either kept my hair short or let it grow into a TWA. Then, sadly, messed it up with texturizers and later relaxers. :wallbash::wallbash:

I did it!! I adjusted my clippers to their lowest setting and just dove right in! It wasn't a "Mr. Clean" cut, but I'll tell ya it was pretty darn scalpy, if I do say so myself!. I'd wanted to do it for YEARS!! But not because I thought it'd be fun... well not really. My hair had been in pretty bad shape for a really, really long time, so I wanted to shave it all off and start over again. When I actually did it, I am sad to say that I wasn't brave enough to wear it out, so I hid beneath a lace wig.

It was a really liberating experience though! :yep: I expected myself to regret doing it, but I really didn't! The only thing I regret is relaxing my hair again months after I shaved it all off. The second time I cut it, (1-25-10) I cut it down to about half an inch, and rocked it!:lachen:

Did it the first time I went natural. Took a few weeks to get used to & I did rock a scarf. I was in college, so it wasn't a huge deal. Or if it was, I didn't notice. The second time I did take clippers to it, but I left it as a TWA.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately and I think after the wedding (for which I need some long swangin hair pics) i will just shave it down to a lil fade or so and wear it like that for a while. If I hate it, it'll grow back.

I've done it. Out of frustration. Twice. But both times my hair was such a HAM that it made no sense to hold on to it. It was very easy to take care of and I wore big earrings and lipstick when I was bald. It was kind of cool.

Noooo I love your hair. Even though I'm sure you would look gorgeous in any style.

I commend you ladies who have rocked a baldy because it does take lots of confidence and style. I've never done it though A TWA was short enough for me.
