Has anyone roller set after using aloe and glycerine?

I was reading on the recipe board about a great mixture of aloe and veggie glycerine. I would like to try this, but has anyone put this on their hair and then tried to roller set their hair?

I just did 2 days ago and it turned out great.

I have in a spray bottle 1/2 aloe juice 1/2 glycerin and 1/4 distilled water. I always use it after CWing or shampooing but never before a roller set b/c I thought it would be heavy--but NOPE. My hair was sooooo soft and moisturized. This spritz is a YES before every style it seems.

I also used Healthy Ends on my ends and my set was still bouncy and soft!

I would try it :yep:

i tried it before and I wouldn't recommend it. My hair seemed poofier than normal and not as sleek. To me an aloe vera/glycerin mixture would deliver the opposite results most people try to achieve when they rollerset.

I love that mixture though and use it when I don't rollerset which is 95% of the time (right now).

Thanks for telling me this. That is exactly what I was afraid would happen. I think it might work, until moisture would be in the air..

Would this work if you're transitioning? I think one of the reasons i NEVER wear my hair out is because I can't style it the way i want to; i think rollersets would be easy, but everytime i set, it looks frizzy or it's hard and crunchy, or i used too much oil and it's a flatwrap instead of a roller wrap...if this would help with better results, i'll be more apt to do rollersets...

I was afraid of this happening too. I don't get good results when adding too much of any product other than a conditioner or lottabody (the ready-to-use one). I remember using a serum to rolleset, and my hair was a mess. So bad, that I had to wash it the next day!

If you seal it with a serum before rollersetting you shouldn't have the poof problem. I don't generally rollerset though b/c I'm awful at it - and I can't get enough tension on my 7mo post roots for it to be worth the trouble. :ohwell:
