Ok I didn't attend my church for a few weeks and was outta town a few times prior now I need to play catch up. Has anyone else ever been in this position? I coulda mailed the money but I wanna pay back in increments:( . Why am I being stingy? After yesterdays installment I felt like a real taker. :(

I have. I have 3 kids, one with a disability. I am raising them on my own and sometimes emergencies or unexpected expenses come up. I am in church usually 3 times per week. And if they have an offering, I try to always give at least 20-30 dollars even if I have already paid my tithe. That way, if I have something come up on payday, I have contributed something to my tithe. And, when I have extra, I give extra. So I think it kind of equals out.

It's your heart that God sees more than anything and He is not going to hammer you into paying Him in full as a harsh creditor would. All God wants is your heart which is where tithe is based upon..giving to 'Him' and His work from your heart.

No matter what the reasons were, continue to give, for the One you are giving to will always be there loving you no matter what. ;)

Thanks for your response Shimmie. I feel kinda scandalous but I didn't wanna get off track in other areas while off from work.
I didn't apply for my additional disablility payments til a few weeks ago. I didn't want to give out that lump sum. I can pay it back w/my regular check or with my overtime. I am going to call my pastor.

You live in God's heart as His 'babygirl'...the same as your daughter lives in your heart. No matter the mistakes, the love only grows more and more; love which always responds in each situation...in love ;).

However you choose to fix it, God sees the heart of you behind it...always sincere. ;)

The fact you are even concerned about it speaks volumes...a lot of saints don't believe in paying tithes and/or not concerned about it. I was in that situation a couple of years ago and felt horrible. I felt like I was mooching when ever the preacher got up to speak. I was into payday loans and paying those off and my checking account was always in a negative balance, so when ever I got paid, I was already short. If a check came in with no money in my account, the bank would cover the check and charge me $20 per check for the priviledge. This made paying tithes a pleasure and putting $$$ in daily offering a pleasure. If I can help it, I will never do that again. I've also given God mental IOUs...LOL

God completely understands your situation.

But don't rob God of an oppurtunity to bless you through a miracle. That was the whole point of tithe... It is to see if we trust God by saying I give back to you (whats already yours) the FIRST ten percent because I trust that you are the one who truly provides for me. Are we obedient to His Word even when it hurts?

Once I ran up my cellphone bill to 300 dollars, and I wanted to get it payed off, my paycheck that week was 300 dollars. But to tithe on it first would leave me with 270 dollars, and I would still have a balance and would be charging me late fees. I set aside the money to tithe anyways. That same day, I checked the mail and a coupon for 30 dollars credit came in the mail from the cellphone company. Exactly the amount i needed to pay the amount in full!!! God came through for me, and solidified in my mind that He is able, and He is fully trustworthy :D
