Hand-Sewn Faux Pony

Hey Ladies!
Last night I made this undetectable faux pony.
I don't like the draw string ones... I think they look fake
and they never come in this texture so I decided to
make my own I was inspired by the ones on
hisandhers and those upa clips... this is like
a mix of both those products. It's two pieces one
to tie over and one to tie under so my real hair is
sandwiched inside the pieces.
This one is cool because you just tie it over your
hair and you can take it out and put it on with ease.
It's made from wefts of human hair, black thread, and burgundy ribbon.
Okay... it wasn't supposed to be a burgundy ribbon
but I didn't feel like going back to the store.
It only cost $25 to make. Took about 2 hours to sew it.
It's a little messy but...
I think I did okay at my first attempt.
I probably won't be wearing this in public but ummm...
It was super fun and easy... ya'll should try it...
if you haven't already.

(( ADDING MORE PHOTOS TO FOTKI & BLOG LATER))

Also, I posted a thread earlier basically
asking if anyone had the same hair texture
as me... well, this is exactly what my natural
hair looked like before all the dying, relaxing,
and damage I've done to my hair.

Okay lady, out with it. HOW did you do it? Is it posted in your fotki? GORGEOUS! I can't even tell it's not your hair. You have to share. I'm always trying to make my own creations...Post it, PM me, something, but tell me!;)

Thanks

Gg

I'd love to know how you did it. It looks great! I've been wanting one just like this because I'v'e never been fond of the drawstrings one me. I found a pattern on a website, but never tried it. What type of hair did you use?

What website was this?

OT: You're in K.C.? I  that place when I was there. The Jazz festivals, Arthur Bryants BBQ:lick:, Crown Plaza ....those were the days.

Yes, m'aam! Good ole' Kansas City, MO. Of course, I'm totally dedicated to Gates BBQ as opposed to Arthur Bryant's! :lick:

Here's a link to the website where I found a pattern for a wrap-around ponytail: http://www.mhrw.com/w_ponytails.html.

I'm anxious to hear how SouthernTease made hers as well. I'm inspired to go ahead and give it a try now that I've actually seen the finished product.

Thanks for the link! ST updated her original post. She added more info. although not instructions *hint, hint ST*.

BTW, Gates was great too.:lick:

I folded the wefts in 3 inch sections
then, I sewed the wefts together and then sewed
them to a ribbon... it was hard... because
I suck at sewing... but that's pretty much
all I did.

I had another idea originally... it didn't really pan out
if I could do it again... I'd cut the wefts into 3 inch sections
instead of folding and then sew them together individually.
but I didn't want to ruin a whole pack of hair by cutting it...
I know better now... If you have a sewing machine... this
should be a breeze... also... I'm having trouble with it
maybe slipping out... I might add a comb next time.

Thanks, will do!

Thanks for the instructions. I'm definitely going to try this. By the way, here are some instructions I found for a similar wrap-around ponytail: http://www.mhrw.com/w_ponytails.html
