Hairgasm shampoo and conditioner???

Felicia, I haven't used the Magicpack but from what I understand it costs around $350 for a six month supply. Maybe some of the other ladies who actually uses it can answer the other questions you have.

Dudley's antiseptic helps to unclog pores of excess sebum which science has proved will hinder hair growth. That is one of the reasons people get dandruff is because their scalps produces excess sebum and dirt and other things cling to it and form flakes. A lot of people figure that if you have dandruff your scalp is dry, but if ask the majority of people with dandruff their scalp is not dry. Hairgasm scalp oil is used to scrub the scalp and unclog the pores of excess sebum, etc. If you keep your pores unclogged you will find that your hair does in fact grow better. But every one is different. I do like Marie longhair's products but I like more moisture in addition to softness and I find that I need more than just oil to keep my hair really moisturized. Her conditioners are pretty good, but like I the ones that I use better.

I have purchased the magic Kit twice. The kit is suppose to last 6 months. But I no longer use her products except the number 2 and medic shampoo which I use to clarify my hair every 4 to 6 weeks.

Thanks, Edie...when you said antiseptic I should have realized it was a "cleanser" for the scalp instead of just promoting growth..I'm just really on a "growth" thing right now...esp. for my thinning edges. What conditioners are you using now for moisture? The Tigi products?

These are the product that I use

Interesting products, Edie. The Tigi products are a little expensive for me though. Bumble and Bumble (a little costly too) isn't in my area. I thought you can only buy the Louise Marie shampoos if you are using the magicpack? I mean I read on the site that besides the BTN duo you can't order any other products unless you are a member who uses the magicpack every 6 months.

You can order Bumble and Bumble, TIGI and other salon products off of ebay at really good prices. As for the marie longhairs products, what she does is have you use her products by encouraging to buy the magic packs (that's what I did. After ordering the second one, I found that my favorites were the number 2 and medic shampoo. So I ordered 2 full sizes of each. The magic kit has only small sizes (about 2 ounces I think.) She carried a 8 oz size when I was ordering her kits. I haven't ordered her kit in about 2 and a half years though. I still have about half a bottle of both shampoos. I am going to have to reorder. I guess I will order the basic shampoo that she recommends. When I ordered the kits originally, they were $275.00 I think .

The magicpack only contains 2 oz. sizes? Thanks for letting me know that! I know you get 15 different shampoos but I thought they would be bigger than that...oh well I wasn't planning on ordering or trying the system out soon anyway...but I did want to try them ONE DAY-lol.

Yes the shampoos come in small bottles - 15 in all. But the conditioners (4 I think) comes in regular sizee bottles 8-12 ozes I think). You see the thing is that she doesn't even put how many ounces are in the bottles, just as she doesn't put the ingredients of what's in the bottles. The thing is that if you shampoo everday, you will find that you are not using a lot of shampoo because let's face it, your hair never gets a chance to get really dirty. I found that I would run out of conditioner before I ran out of shampoo because I was using more to try to get a moisturizing feel to my hair. Her products made my hair very soft, but just was not moisturizing enough for me.

I see what you are saying, but I still think she should have bigger sizes though.

You can actually buy 2oz, 4oz or 8 oz. They last forever. I would say that my shampoo set (4oz bottles) should last me for 6-7 months. You don't have to use alot and you get great results. I got 3-4 months worth of each conditioner. The bottles are 16 oz bottles (roughly). I must admit that I am extremely happy with my results. I love the way that my scalp feels. I use to get scabs on my scalp quite often. I don't get them at all anymore. My scalp did not even burn during my last relaxer (which is unheard of for me). My hair does feel extremely soft now. I spray the magic spray on it when it feels dry.

$350 :-O do they have a tester kit or sumthin'?
tell more about your increased growth. how much did you get? how long did the growth spurt last?how long did you use it before you noticed the results?
thanks

Felicia, you can start out with the BTN duo...then decide if you want to order the magicpack.

I am actually going to buy some of her stuff this weekend the BTN duo, please tell me how much the 8oz size is, I just don't have the time or patience to go thru all of her site. Thanks.

I shampoo every day and I am absolutely amazed at the conditin of my hair. I have to keep it in a bun, but its soft, conditioned, toned, way less shedding and I don't have to put a bunch of gunk in it to make it soft. It's soft naturally. I'm saving time not doing deep conditioning treatments, followed by moisturizing treatments and my hair looks way better. And, when I blow dry...soft, swinging hair that isn't weighted down. It is expensive though...but worth it. I doubt if I get the magic pack right about now because of the commitment, maybe later. Right now I'm digging the BTN Duo.

bump i'm with alli on this one. how much is the BNT duo? How long does it last? did you experience growth with this too?

Everyone, I am not criticizing anyone's choice when it comes to what product to use. Use what works best for you. But if you want to try Marie Longhair's product, try the BNT duo. The reason I said that is because like I said earlier in one of my previous messages is that you do notice a growth spurt in the beginning, but then it levels off. But that is the same result you will see from doing daily washings/rinsings. A lot of you ladies know what I am talking about.

As long as we keep the scalp clean and our pores unclogged, our hair will grow well. After I bought my second kit, I started using the Aubrey organics line. I used basically 3 shampoos from their line (J.A.Y., Island Naturals or is it Island Spice (I forget), and the one with the Rose in the name. These were recommended for dry hair and were said to be gentle. I still used the 2 shampoos (Number 2 and Medic) that Marie Longhair's produces and my hair still grew. But to tell you the truth my hair is doing better now than it ever has. There is no silver bullet in a bottle. It is simply a matter of ensuring that our body along with the hair on the scalp itself has the best growing conditions possible.

Edie, do you take supplements? I thought I remembered reading that you took 10 grams of Biotin...or do I have you confused with someone else? Anyway, are you saying that you have to wash your hair 7 days a week to see a "growth" spurt? I know with LMH products she stresses washing the hair everyday but that is TOO MUCH for me right now. I mean I already wash my hair every 3 days which is a "new" thing for me that I've just started adjusting to.

I take 8 mg of biotin along with several other supplements. Previously I was taking 12mg a day to control my diabetes. I do not wash my hair seven days a week. I only wash it now 1-2 times a week. I wash it 3 times if I am exercising and perspiring a lot. My hair seems to like this. I tried to shampoo my hair the beginning of last year but I found that my hair broke a lot.

The reason I posted the message above is to let you ladies know that you do not have to buy Marie Longhairs system to get the added growth benefits of daily shampooing. As a lot of women here on this hair board can attest to, daily washing/rinsing does help to promote growth. It helps to keep to scalp clean and the pores clean of sebum. Just make sure that you clarify at least every 4-6 weeks depending on how much buildup of products that you have in your hair. The important thing is to keep the pores unclogged and breathing. What we sometimes fail to remember is that our scalp breathes just like the skin on the rest of the body. Do not add conditioner to your scalp. Do not put hair grease/cream on your scalp. The scalp does not need these products. Only your hair. If you put anything on your scalp, it must have a water base. Like a lot of women here are using Surge and their hair is doing well. The Surge does not coat the scalp and clog the pores. You do not have to wash your hair everyday to have a growth spurt. Just keep your scalp pores unclogged with hair product residue. 2-3 times a week should do it.

Thanks for explaining. What brand of Biotin do you take?
Unquote

I take Freeda Brand of Biotin. I will skip one week a month, so my body does not become accustom to the biotin and not work as effectively. That one week my body works on the reserves that are stored in my body, so when I start back taking them it just absorbed it that more quickly. Sort of like when someone who has been without food for a while who suddenly has food again. While they go hungry, the stored fat is burned, but once they eat again their body will rapidly absorb the calories trying to put fat back on their bodies. My doctor said that your body will eventually acclimate itself if a certain amount of vitamins is taken everyday. By taking a break, and then starting back again, you trick it into a survival type mode of functioning in regard to the vitamins that it did not get during the break. I hope I explained this right.

The Freeda Biotin is pretty good, huh? I think I need to make the switch.

If you are looking only for growth then I agree with Edie about the best conditions to produce growth. However, if you are struggling with dry, hardness, tangles. The softening of my hair is remarkable. I have touchable hair but it is even more touchable than ever before. The Chemistry of PH and hair condition is an interesting one.

There are many roads that lead to Roman the goals is the find the one you enjoy.

Actually, shampooing or conditioner rinsing your hair more often is what softens your hair, not the Marie Long Hair shampoos specifically. As many women here noticed, not only did their hair grow more but it got softer. That is one of the reasons I cannot wash everyday, my hair actually got too soft and started breaking. When I first started using her products I would wash everyday, then every other day until eventually I only shampooed twice a week. Even when I tried to start washing every day last year, my hair started to break again. Unfortunately my hair is fine, I just have a lot of it. Enjoy her products, but ask yourself do you really need to spend $350.00 to have softer hair when simply shampooing more often with a moisturizing shampoo or conditioner would give you the same result, plus added growth. I do not mean to offend. I enjoyed her Magic Kit when I bought them, but I could kick myself now for spending almost $600.00 for what I could have bought (natural shampoos and conditioners) for less than $40.00 at the time.

Edie, good points. You mentioned that just using a moisturizing shampoo or conditioner would give one the same results. According to some who have used Louise Marie products [or according to Louise Marie herself], moisturizing shampoos and conditoners don't work-not after awhile anyway. I was a little "shocked"-because I thought they worked. I remember reading that on one of the "Louise Marie" threads. I was and I'm still intrigued about her system-but like you said the $350 is a little bit steep for me. Another thing washing your hair on a daily basis can be worse if you have hard water-which is another one of my concerns. I think I live in one of those hard water areas, but I only wash my hair every three days or twice a week.

Edie, we are not disagreeing as i said there are many roads that lead to rome. I have try a lot of products over the years some more expense some less. Right now I am enjoying these. When I priced out the cost for the quanity fo shamoo and conditioner needed for daily care I found the cost not to be within reason. Most shampoo & conditioer sare not used daily so that when you add that in with the daily oils & night time use the cost to me was average. But these are all personal prefrences and any number of products will lead you to beautiful, wonderful hair...Enjoy the journey and try out any number new products you choose---PJim is alive and fun

When I say moisturizing shampoos/conditioners I am talking about natural shampoos/conditioners they do not have sulfates, etc. The ones with sulfates and such are the one that Marie is speaking of. Have you ever wondered why she does not put her ingredients on the bottle. They are natural ingredients that if you knew what they were you could simply buy them and make your own shampoo using a castile shampoo base. I have made some in the past. I order from nature with love. I added rosemary, sage and other ingredients to the castile shampoo base. Castile shampoo is one of the most gentle shampoos you can use. It is even used on babies hair.

A natural shampoo like Aubrey organics for example use a castile shampoo base. In addition there is an absolutely great moisturizing condition that is called "Beauty Without Cruelty." If I do a conditioner wash, that is what I usually use. I don't do conditioner washes often (only if I am so pooped and want to go to bed in a hurry). So I just wet the hair, put the conditioner in my hair and massage my scap for a few minutes and then rinse. That is usually enough to tide me over til I get a chance to give a good shampoo.

As to hard water, I am afraid I cannot help you there. Don't they sell water filter or whatever they are called that can soften your water. I am not good with all the gizmos they have out these days.

As you say, enjoy the journey. I do not want to see another hair product for a few weeks. I actually have a hair product closet. It is a small linen closet in my den that I store all my hair products in. I got it real bad!!!!!!!!!!!

The shampoos I use and alternate from time to time, don't contain any of the "harsh" sulfates. I'm use a shampoo from the Jason Natural Cosmetics line and it contains many organic ingredients-it may not be 100% like Aubrey's but I think it's still good.

If you are washing your hair every day or even every other day, you only need a small amount of shampoo to wash your hair (unless your hair is very long and thick). A little over a teaspoon should be enough and you should only lather once concentrating on your scalp.

And like you said you have hard water. Try buying distilled water and doing your final rinse with it. It should help.
