I do wash my hair in the sink but not often....I prefer the shower for a few reasons....I able to wash my hair in the direction it naturally hangs ..So I have less or no tangles...Also the steam in the shower helps conditioner penetrate hair shaft....But mostly I wash in the shower 99.9% of the time because it feels so so so good, relaxing, and love getting out the shower feeling clean from head to toe.....:yep: ...Once you start you'll never go back

The bolded is the TRUTH. Once you feel that shower water on your scalp, you'll never want to go back. Its addictive.

I prefer the shower because it's just easier.

When your hair gets so long that it hangs down the drain hole, the sink option is less atractive.

the same reason ... i mean you get everywhere clean and it's a nice feeling to be clean from head to toe

anyway the sink looks like it would hurt my head and my mum never use to use the sink when she use to take care of my head.
when i was back in the caribbean though she just use to throw a bucket or a jug of water over my head:spinning: and on a few times it pressure made me fall down what can i say i was boney.:lachen:

I have always washed my hair in the shower since I have been doing it myself. When I was little, my mom washed it in the sink. Its so much easier for me to do it in the shower, the few times I did try to do it in the sink, I got water everywhere and didnt get the soap out of the back of my hair.

I always wash my hair in the shower (provided the water pressure is strong enough). The only time I will wash in the sink is when I'm putting a relaxer in. I really don't want the relaxer all over my shower.

Sink:

I'm a sink person always have been. You can wash your hair successfully in the sink and detangle just as good as with the shower. I take my time and section my hair when detangling and apply the conditioner. I've tried the shower thing - but honestly I hate jumping in and out when you have to a wash, rinse, deep conditionr and then back in to rinse. That's just too much for me. Also some of the products I use irritate my skin. As far your hair doing down the drain - I have one of those hair stoppers for the sink, so I never have that problem. I've done this well over 30 years and have never had a problem.

YaY another sink washer!

I wash my hair in the sink 90% of the time, the process is easier and quicker *for me* also whenever I wash my hair I always wash/detangle it in braided sections so tangling isn’t an issue for me. ;)

In the shower. I couldn't comb out the tangles if I washed in the sink. However, I do my relaxer steps using the sink and then my last step of rinsing out the deep conditioner is done in the shower, so I only have to get in the shower once. I still have to be very careful then because my hair is hanging over my forehead at that point and has to be "negotiated" back to hanging down my back.:ohwell:

For years, I used the sink when I washed my hair at home.

I just became a shower washer like 5 weeks ago. Now, I'll never go back to the sink.

The shower feels sooooooooooo good. Like another poster said, it's relaxing and it feels good being clean from head to toe. Also, I feel like one of those commercials, lol.

I used to have the wooorst time detangling. Now, it's a breeze.

So my question is....Do you wash your hair in the kitchen/bathroom sink or in the shower, and please explain why you do it. I'm fairly new but I'm taking my haircare game very serious and want to make sure that I'm doing everything within my control to do what's best for my hair.

Great question Bign_17,

I wash my hair in the shower majority of the time. But on relaxer night I wash in the kitchen sink.

Like a few women have posted I get very little to no tangles when I wash my hair in the shower. Plus when you get your hair washed at a beauty shop the hair professionals are taught the correct way to get all chemicals out of a clients hair is having the head facing up and water running down the hair shaft from root to ends. B/c shampoo or relaxer is placed on the root or near it and you want the water to hit area where the chemical or shampoo lays first.

And the shower is the closets example of that. If I wash my hair in the kitchen sink I lay on my back as well. I got a big kitchen countertop.

So mainly I try to always wash my hair in the direction it flows. So thats is laying on my back or standing in the shower. Plus washing your hair in the shower is convient b/c all the products are right there in arms reach.

I used to be a sink washer, but once my hair started to get caught in the drain, I had to stop. Besides, the water pressure is much better in my shower.

Shower for me - It's just pure convenience. I deep condition first then do the rest when I shower. It's just nice to get my shower done at the same time. If I do decide to deep condition after shampooing, I shampoo and apply the conditioner while in the shower. I use my stand up shower instead of the one in the tub. Then I can just lean over and rinse later using the hose attachment.

I prefer the first way, though.

Shower with my brand new SHOWER HEAD!. My water pressure in my bathroom is very low and I needed more pressure. Especially when it comes to relaxing time. Did I mention it's hand held?
:drunk:
