Hair texture changing?

I just turned 20 a lil' bit ago and I've been going through some pretty weird physical changes.

My wisdom teeth are growing in, a bunch of freckles that weren't there before sprouted up, my hips widened (didn't really need that one) my periods are longer and HARDER to live with (REALLY didn't need that one).

Now I'm looking at my newgrowth. It's not my normal new growth. I have 4a hair some 3c in the nape area mostly. When it grows in, it become little coils almost immediately. All that is there is one deep wave. Where my hair would've coiled about 3 times already, there is only one. It looks much looser than my natural texture.

Could it have changed because I'm going through some changes? Is this common? Will it... stay like this, or could this just be something temporoary?

I don't like it too much because I'm worried about how differently I would have to treat it especially around touch up time.

i've noticed a texture change also over the years. my hair used to be a mixture of thick strands and thin strands. now they all seem to be very thick. not sure what's going on though.

I have not had the hair thing happen to me, but I've had the same thing with the freckles and longer periods over the last couple of years. (I'm in my early 30's) Also, my skin lighter now.

My mother has gotten a lot of extra freckles the the past 2 yrs. That's is something I am not looking forward to.

Yeah, my skin has also lightened. Lots of stuff has beein happening, even my boobs grew. I thought that at 18 you've finished most of your growing. I don't get it... why can't we just stay like we are?

::sigh:: and it's not close to being over for me, is it?

Welcome to womanhood! just kidding. i'm not an expert but it could be hormonal or it could be a change in your eating habits. eating less protien or healthy foods? Or were you taking vitamins before? when i take vits i notice my hair and nails are stronger and healthier as opposed to when i stop taking them. Also when i don't get alot of excercise my monthly periods are very heavy. I haven't taken flaxseed oil or evening primrose oil but they are supposed to soften the texture of your hair. U may want to read postings to find out more about these supplements.

A women's body is constantly changing. Your body really doesn't stop developing until around 25 or so. Especially if you go through a pregnancy/birth. I didn't get my boobs until my sophmore year of college around 20. Up until that point I was a B cup, now at 23 I am a C/D (in between). Thats why is makes me  when I see young teenage girls like 18 or 19 opting to get breast implants. I'm like you are not even fully developed yet! The only thing I believe stops growing at 18 is your height. :yep:

I've been relaxing my hair for many years. I've recently transitioned from relaxed to natural. I’ve noticed a very noticeable change every couple of months, section by section. The back and sides of my hair used to look like the crown area, curlier and wavier. Now, my crown area is changing. The back went through a change first, then the sides, and now the crown area.

I truly believe that the frequent use of chemical relaxers have changed my hair texture and slowly my hair texture is changing back to normal.

Porsche, are you taking supplements?

Women bodies go through changes do to hormones often even if it’s not noticeable, pregnant or not.

Pregnant women skin, hair texture, etc., can change for the worse (excessive hair shedding, and hard to handle hair) or better (thicker, bouncer, shinier, easy to manage, sturdier, etc.) when pregnant, do to hormones and/or supplements. Once their pregnancy is over their hair texture, skin, etc., gradually change back to normal.

For you Porshe, this new change might be your new norm for the hair and freckels. I say visit you OB/GYN to see if your experiencing a normal change, you just might have to wait it out.

I just started taking ultra noursih hair a few days ago, it's not the vitamins. I also started surgeing, but I haven't surged since before my last touch up.

I have been drinking more water and eating less junk food (I still eat a bit of it, but it's cut down by a lot).

Could the water/less junk be the culprit?

I know for sure that I'm not pregnant, I haven't been with anyone for a long time, yep I took a vow of celibacy. Also, I've been having regular periods. If there is a baby in there, it's truly a miracle. Where is the big star in the sky?

Yes, I have and still do notice a difference in the texture of my hair, since November 2003 my hair texture has been in constant change for me I really think it's due to not using relaxers any more.

Since I did the big chop almost five months ago and cut off all scab ends, my hair, texture is changing, to me it seems to be getting softer and more managable. My crown has always been the thickest section of my hair while the perimeter is more O type, it's weird, perhaps one day I will have a full head of O textured hair, but for now I have a mix of O and S textures growing on my head. It's cool to see the changes and stages my natural hair goes through especially when I give myself a good dusting of the ends. :)

I agrre with all of the stuff said by the other ladies.

Could be many things Porsche19, but I would attribute the changes to be Puberty primarily and then whatever you're eating, supplements etc secondary.

As you know during puberty the hormones are not settled and anything is possible especially by what you're explained about the pattern of your menstrual cycle, your skin and your hair, hips widening etc.

Also, people develop at different rates and some of us are late developers. I was still filling out and growing well into my mid twenties:)

As far as your boobs, they will definitely fluctuate in size especially close to your menstrual period.

Here are some websites that will help further. :)

yeah, everyone is different. My wisdom teeth came in at 13. I was a B cup in high school and my breasts got bigger in my 20's. They were dense and were always difficult to get a good mammo. I have fibrocystic breasts and they would do ultrasounds sometimes. My gynecologists have always told me that my breasts will get less dense as I get older. By less dense, they mean they will be fattier and easier to read on a mammo and easier to detect lumps. This has happened. Also, I became a DD in my late 20's. My weight was less than when I was in high school, so I knew it wasn't because of weight gain. One gyne also told me that women will experience changes every decade. I used to have very bad cramps and every decade they became less severe. So, she was right about that too. :)

What, my breasts are getting smaller. They're not small enough to go down a whole cup size yet. :(

Queenie, believe me. Big isn't always better! I'm a D cup and I would like smaller ones. :)

I'm not a full D, but I agree. For example you can't get away with wearing certain shirts, or go without a bra, men never look you in your eye

To IntelligenceisBeautiful, girl you never know . . . mine just seemed to show up one day :yep:

I wish mine were smaller too. I'd be able to wear those shelf-bra tops. There are so many more clothing choices available to smaller busted women. Oh well, people pay good money to get my size, so I guess I should shut up. :D

Maybe it's a product that you're using that's changed how your texture comes out? I have that wave thing going on & I think it's because my hair stays moist & my diet... Just think, when it comes to touch ups you won't have to leave it on so long because your curls are already so loose!
As for the period changes, I began drinking Chlorophyll & it helped cut down my days by two or three...

I always have to wear a bra, after 9 months of breast feeding, my girls hang really low. If a went out like that, people would look and say :barf:
