Does anyone know? Can you do it once and not go back or it like a relaxer where you're "locked in" to getting it redone over and over? How damaging is it to the hair? What are "natural" alternatives if any?

A silkener is a texturizer. A texturizer is a mild relaxer ... a silkener is still breaking down the bonds in your hair and is therefore damaging. \

I know the salon called Curve does it. According to their website at www.curvesalon.com, it is basically done with a mild lye relaxer left on the hair for a short period of time in order to loosen the hair's natural texture. This is the first time I heard the term "Silkening" used. By the way, the salon is NY and the cost of this service is $150 and up!!!!
