Does anyone know of a good product that will keep moisture in my hair all day long? (Something other than S-Curl please

.) I would like to wash my hair every morning and keep it wet all day. I don't want the product to "dry out."

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure if this will keep your hair wet all day, but it may keep it damp all day which is also good for moisture:

After washing your hair, towel dry lightly. Apply a pomade (HHB or the like) throughout your hair and style into a bun or other protective style if you like.

I suggest protective styles because if your hair is hanging free, it may rub on your clothes and dry out faster. Also, having it exposed to the air will cause it to airdry quicker.

You may also want to apply a leave-in conditioner before the pomade to have extra moisture.

Also, do not use a hairdress, which can dry your hair out.

Boadicea's suggestion should keep your hair damp all day (which is what I basically do in the warmer months). My hair stays pretty damp in a bun when I do it every morning (during the warmer months). The only way I can think of one keeping their hair 'wet' all day, would be to keep a misting bottle on hand.

This is a good question. I keep a misting bottle in my purse, but am interested in other ways as well...

I agree with the suggestions. If I wash in the morning and do a bun, my hair stays damp for a whole day and even longer if I let it.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. I do have a small jar of the HHB but it is very hard to spread on my wet hair.

Is there some kind of leave-in that would impart moisture? If not, I may just have to leave that misting bottle nearby.

Lustrasilk leave-in Moisturizing/conditioner works well. I usually spray throughout my hair concentrating on the ends, and by the end of the day, my hair is still moist. However, I do keep it in a loose bun also, which might help in perserving the moisture.

I have been using the scurl gel(not a fixative) in the tub and it keeps it soft alll day without it feeling wet. Maybe try that or the world of curls one(the one Adrienne uses) which I'll be trying next.

Hmmm...

I wonder how the Elasta QP Hair Recovery, Lustrasilk leave-in Moisturizing/conditioner, and the S-Curl Gel compare...

Anyone try ALL of these products?

How about spraying your hair with distilled water first until it's damp. Then apply your favorite oil (olive, jojoba, carrot, etc) to the length of your hair. Then braid it or put it in a bun. My hair always stays damp like that. I also like to spray my hair with distilled water and then add serum to my hair.

Some hairdresses tend to have alcohol and mineral oils whereas pomades tend to have waxes in them.

Both are used for sculpting and holding the hair in place (moreso a pomade than a hairdress) but both can be either drying or moisturizing.

I've found hairdresses in general to be a little more drying.

Great suggestions... I think that I will try them all then find the best solution.

I agree that hairdresses are drying. I have the Keracare hairdress and it is drying. I prefer their Jojoba lotion and leave-in conditioner

If I want moist hair all day on certain days, I carry my small spray bottle filled with water and a little bit of conditioner. I lightly mist as needed. I don't have a favorite conditioner I use in my bottle.

SVT,

That sounds like a good idea. Are you using distilled water and how often would you have to mist your hair during the day?

My hair doesn't necessarily stay damp when I do this but it is definitely moisturized when it dries. I had great success this week when I sprayed LUST diluted w/distilled water on my hair and then sealed it with a mixture of castor oil and jojoba oil. Talk about shine and moisture!!!
