well how long have u been growing your hair and at what rate? Your hair could be in its resting phase. All hair has a growing cycle that rests and eventually ends, ya know?

Re: hair has been 20\" since april 30...

Are you sure you haven't had any new growht? Not even one centimeter in almost 4 months? Maybe you have had breakage...do you have any comparison pics?

Re: hair has been 20\" since april 30...

sorry i havent taken any pics. but u know i relaxed two weeks ago and my stylist remarked - gurl when wuz de last time u had a relaxer. i told her april 30. i asked her why she said u have to do a relaxer today (i went in for a deep cond) or dem new growth going choke u!

You're probably just in a resting stage if there was no breakage.

Or perhaps your calculations aren't correct? My hair has been 20 inches (I just trimmed today) since April and I was panicking, thinking that it hadn't grown but I had forgotten then my hair was 18.5 inches in Feb. and then got to 20-1 in April where it's stayed (plus or minus a half inch) until today.

Right now I reckon it's in another resting stage and then I'll be ready for some growth before summer is over.

If you want to look it up, try Google.

I have felt like that recently as well. But I can tell my hair has grown ( and so can others) despite what the measuring tape said..so I have resulted in taking pictures instead; that way I have visual proof over a period of time instead of measuring (which sometiems can be off depending on how we measure)

good point. just periodically measure how far it is from bra strap or how many inches past the shoulders it is instead of worrying about exact measurements. great idea

Re: hair has been 20\" since april 30...

I agree that your hair may just be in a resting phase. Unfortunately, I don't remember how long the average resting phase is.

I am wondering though, has your hair ever been longer than 20 inches?

My hair has been 1 inch above bra strap since my last trim about 4-5 months ago. Then, within 2 weeks, it grew an inch! I have come to the conclusion that my hair doesn't grow in the cold winter months.

Maybe your hair too thrives during certain seasons.

so anyways...... a strange thing happened ya'll!

I trimmed as i said and......... i swear i got 1/2" grew up since then... its like my hair wanted a trim or some'n in order to move!! i cant believe it.

has that ever happened to anyone?

weird...

maybe its because the 17th was new moon

Re: hair has been 20\" since april 30...

yeah, i've noticed this too. my hair has been basically the same length since last november (hence no update pics). i got a 1/4" trim in march, i think.

do you all think there is a limit to the length that we can attain? if not, what do you recommend i do to get over the hump? i'd really like to get to tailbone length, but if i don't, that's okay too... i guess...

Hi Adrienne,

I had previously read on WedMD that hair has a resting period just before a great growth spurt takes place. Maybe you are on your way to a growth spurt. The hair follicles can sometimes rest between six months to one year. Hope this helps, either way I definitely still admire you and your hair as a constant goal of my own.
