Hair growth & hair color

Okay,

I just had streaks put in my hair. I usually add a little color about every other year. My natural hair color is dark brown with reddish tones to it. I usually have light brown streaks added to my hair. This year my stylist decided to really 'brighten' my streaks up this year by adding bleach to my color. My hair now has a 'golden' look to it. It is really pretty, but I'm really concerned about breakage. I have always been careful with my hair whenever I have color in it--less heat, good conditioners, etc. My goal is bra strap length and I'm about 4 inches shy of that goal. I'm wondering for those of you that have or had color in your hair--how did you achieve your hair growth and minimize breakage?

Welcome to the Forum!

I believe you and I have had the same color application applied to our hair. My hair is past my shoulders, dark-brown, with golden/honey highlights. The application was performed with bleach. I've had my highlights since April and I haven't had any problems. I get my hair washed and set weekly, along with a deep conditioner (plastic cap, sitting under the dryer for 15 minutes) I always use leave-in conditioners!
I get a hot oil treatment 1-2 times a month . I use products that are not harsh on color-treated hair.
Products that are geared toward color-treated hair are good investments too!

The key to preserving the health of your hair and the vibrance of your highlists is:
*Deep-conditioning your hair after ever wash
*Monthly or Bi-monthly Hot oil treatments
*Using products geared to color-treated hair

Whatever your hair regimen is now, just step it up several notches
to prevent breakage and damage!

*What is your current hair regimen?*
