I don't know if this has been a topic, but I think I am losing my hair. I have the tangles problem like supergirl when I wear my hair down, I cut my hair like every other week some times every other day to get it back on track, it has become very thick from me trimming like crazy, and now last but not lease every time I touch it , it comes out my hair is shedding very bad , but I still get good comments every day on how good it looks. I was wondering if anyone on the board get a lot of shedding due to birth-control or medication itself, it seems like thats when my shedding problem started. I had to take methopredizone for 6 days do a skin reaction from my laundry liquid. If you are in my shoes or have ever been please gave some advice. thank you in advance.

Sorry you are experiencing this I had shedding really bad I was losing more hair than normal when I washed. I sprayed surge directly on my hair and it stopped the shedding in it's tracks, so now I spray surge on my hair after every ash, its a great detangler also.

Sorry to hear this. Are you doing any protein treatments? Have you started taking vitamins again?

Just to piggy back, I am feeling frustrated about my hair as well. Tons of shedding!!! I am not sure what is going on. This is the most effort I have ever made to take care of my hair and it is totally not appreciating my efforts. I am 11 weeks post and was thinking maybe I should just put a relaxer in it. I used the Aphogee Protien Treatment and still tons of shedding. Any advise (encouragement) would be appreciated.

4U2Envy,

I have had similar problems and although I cannot directly link it to the birth control, in my heart of hearts, I really believe that is what did it. I was taking Depo-Provera for my menstral cramps and when I decided to stop taking it for various reasons, my hair began falling out around the front edges. I mean, I was completely bald in places  I went to my beautician crying and needless to say, she explained that she had seen it before. After months of dealing with my hair with "kid gloves" (ie no heat, minimal manipulation, lots of moisture), my hair began to grow back. I AM SO SORRY! I would suggest stripping your regime of any of the extras; stick to the basics. Make sure your scalp and ends are well oiled. Try not to put heat on it...I really hope this helps,

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you ladies. I just want to say thank for you support and if you have any other advice please let me know. just to add something to this post, my cousin said it might be the change of weather that is causing the shedding.

I'm inclined to agree with your cousin. Sometimes people do get seasonal shedding. My hair sheds a lot in the fall... sometimes in the spring. It could be that. Also, as well as protein treatments (usually heavy protein like Nexxus emergencee or Aphogee), garlic oil has been known to stop shedding, about 5 drops or so will do. I saw a decrease in my shedding after adding it to some conditioner/olive oil and letting it sit as a pre-poo (30 mins or so w/heat). Hang in there ladies, most people go through a heavy shedding spell at some point and you can't tell it happened. If the hair didn't recover from it... and it wasn't natural...a lot of people would be running around with bald heads. If the shedding doesn't decrease in a couple of weeks/month, I would definite see a doctor. There are more serious medical conditions that can cause excessive shedding. Good Luck!

(just a note: BC can cause hair loss. you could try not taking it and seeing if your shedding lessons or ...changing pills, but if its heavy shedding...my first thought is seasonal shedding).
