Confess, confess...

What are some of the , unconventional or odd or thrifty things you've done that involves your hair?

Have you done any of the following:

1. Tried to make a "seam" comb seamless
2. Used bathing soap for shampoo
3. While at a BSS applied a product to your hair with NO intentions of buying
4. Had no rollers, rolled your hair with paper
5. Passed a weave off as yours
6. Tried to tape or glue back broken comb/brush teeth
7. Used a piece of clothing (skirt, shirt, pants) as a hair scarf/wrap
8. Used a plastic bag in place of gloves to apply relaxer or other purpose
9. Stolen product from a friend of family member
10. Used grease/oil from your hair as chapstick or lotion to cover up ashy-ness:lachen:
11. Used a fan to dry hair

or other things not listed (tell us)?

I'm guilty of 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, and 10:p A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

I'm guilty of 5 and 10.

In my defense that weave was the BOMB. It looked completely natural and I kept getting compliments, so I was like what the heck, they aint never gonna see my real hair and if they do I'll just say I cut it. :lachen:

Just today my friend and I used Nature's Blessings for chapped lips. But it does have that usage written on the jar.

2. Used bathing soap for shampoo
I forgot my shower caddy that night, and I mean, my hair didn't fall out, so it couldn't have been that bad

3. While at a BSS applied a product to your hair with NO intentions of buying
I would rather do that then get it home and hate it. I'm doing me and the store manager a favor since I won't have to exchange

5. Passed a weave off as yours
I look damn good in my avi and it looked damn good in real life. :lachen:

11. Used a fan to dry hair
Dry summer heat can be brutal on my hair. Plus I get a nice cool down this way, it's like killing two birds with one stone

I also confess that I recycle plastic caps and gloves TO DEATH and I sometimes take cat naps with my heating cap on.

2. Used bathing soap for shampoo - I'm ashamed to admit but yes, i have done this. in my own defense, i was much younger. i used Ivory soap  and my hair turned into a tangled, dry mess!
3. While at a BSS applied a product to your hair with NO intentions of buying
4. Had no rollers, rolled your hair with paper
5. Passed a weave off as yours
6. Tried to tape or glue back broken comb/brush teeth
7. Used a piece of clothing (skirt, shirt, pants) as a hair scarf/wrap - sure did! I cut up an ugly bridesmaid dress (it was purple satin :barf:) and used that bad boy as a scarf
8. Used a plastic bag in place of gloves to apply relaxer or other purpose
9. Stolen product from a friend of family member
10. Used grease/oil from your hair as chapstick or lotion to cover up ashy-ness:lachen: See, why you making me embarrass myself? Yup, if i'm out and about and see a bit of ash and I have oil on my hair, i'll wipe my hand on my hair to get some of the oil :)
11. Used a fan to dry hair - you're killing me now. Yup, i do this too. especially in the summer. :)

I'm guilty of #7 > When I don't find my satin scarf, I grab anything that is under my hand(just to keep my hair right for the night, even if it isn't satin)
O_O

I am guilty of the following

1. Used dish washing detergent/body soap to wash my hair
2. Used paper towels to wrap my hair before sitting under the dryer. I was out of wrap papers
3. Washed and re-used a weave (I was in college and broke:D)
4. Used Vaseline as grease
5. Sprayed legs with oil sheen (gives them a nice glow in the summer )

From the other list I am also guilty of #5, #7 and #11. These are my confessions.

Guilty of 1,2,3,4,5,7,9,10, and 11
In fact when I was eight years old I tried washing my hair with dish washing liquid, because we ran out of bathing soap and shampoo. Can you say breakage?
I've also used a shoe lace or thread to try to tie my hair in a ponytail.
One time when before I came to the forum, I tried to reglue my weave in my head with Elmers glue. Bad idea:lol:
When I was like six years old I tried to give my babydoll a perm. Her whole face turned like charcoal.poor baby:look:
When I didn't have a hair dryer to dry my hair or to deep condition I would stand outside in the sun with a bag on my head.

I'm guilty of 7. Used a piece of clothing (skirt, shirt, pants) as a hair scarf/wrap.

Sometimes when I spend the night at a friend/reletive's house, I forget to pack my head scarf/bonnet.

:sekret: I havent done any hair treatments in a while and my hair is starting to tell on me so I decided I was going to do something to it today no matter what. Now, I KNOW I have some plastic shower caps around here somewhere, but since I cant find them I'm sitting here with a hair treatment in my hair and a walmart shopping bag keeping things moist.

I'm guilty of trying to make a "seam" comb seamless...I got that emry board out and started filing away.........filing............filing away......... , then after about 5 minutes on the same seam, I realised it was the worse idea I ever had

1. Tried to make a "seam" comb seamless Yeah, been there, done that.

3. While at a BSS applied a product to your hair with NO intentions of buying Once in Wal-Mart I put some S-Curl gel on one edge and Let's Jam on the other. I ended up getting neither! :lachen:

11. Used a fan to dry hair I often sit in front of the space heater and I accidently found that it does speed up drying time!

Yes for the following:

#3 - gotta test it first if I want to buy it later! LOL!
#5 - If they think it then I will let them believe it!
#7 - Wifebeaters make good headwraps!
#8 - If I don't have any plastic caps, that shop-rite bag will make do!
#10 - Of course!!!! Good for my hair it is good for my skin! LOL! :lachen:
#11 - YES! So I can get that wild wind-tunnel look! :lachen:

K ladies. Thought I'd post a pic of my homemade "seam" comb. :lachen: I weaved a piece of saran wrap between the teeth. I didn't have a nail file so I just got creative. I may go ahead and buy a .50 cent filer and get my file on though.

I'm guilty of 10,9, 7 and the opposite of 2, I've used shampoo as body wash, but to my defense I didn't know. It wasn't marked clearly, and honestly it left my skin really moisturized, and I smelled glorious:bath:.:lol:

1. Tried to make a "seam" comb seamless
Yep! It worked using an emory board.

4. Had no rollers, rolled your hair with paper
No, but my aunt used to work it using a brown paper bag. I used to twist the paper and hand it to her.

5. Passed a weave off as yours
No. Some people thought it was mine, but I always confessed. I didn't want to suffer embarrassment if a track was hanging on by a thread or a ponytail fell off.

7. Used a piece of clothing (skirt, shirt, pants) as a hair scarf/wrap
I couldn't find my drawstring bonnet, so I used a half slip and tied a big knot on the top. I was very tired and wasn't going to risk more breakage. Oh and if I don't have a clean satin pillow case, a half slip works too. ;)

8. Used a plastic bag in place of gloves to apply relaxer or other purpose.
I use a plastic bag if I run out of those elastic hair caps.

I've tried 5, 7, and the using hair oil from my hair as a cover up for my ash. I also use dish washig soap to clarify my hair because there was a lot of peturleum gel in the product and i figured if it could get the greae off of my dishes it could get the grease out of my hair...lol...it did;)
