Hair at crown tightly coiled

I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong.
I am in the military and therefore, I wear my hair in a ponytail 99.96% of the time. There are a few times that I straighten my hair, but bc of my workout schedule and weather out here it is few and far in between. Since my hair is primarily in a ponytail the front, sides and back are stretched out and hang nicely. The middle, the middle:nono:just coils up something fierce and therefore, I cannot wear my hair hanging. How can I stretch out the crown of hair without damaging my hair?

We have the exact same thing going on. Sorry I'm of no help, just bumping and hoping for suggestions.

I'm getting the samething here. Hopefully someone has some help for us...

Maybe a bun?

We always bun! I wet bun and my ends look nice while the front looks like its tryna get out on parole. No gel will fix it, it's frizzy and lacks the uniform texture of the rest of my hair. Makes regular wash and go leaving it all out totally out of question.

Boy do I share your pain! Sometimes I band only that portion of my hair at night so that it is stretched in the morning. Then I scoop it all into a pineapple or buff sock to sleep. It does help a bit, especially when I wear wngs.

I would try stretching it out the night before with twists, braids, banding or what have you.
